Lori's Story

Hello all my wonderful and dear friends!! I just had to post not only say hello to ALL my wonderful childhood friends whom I've missed dearly, but to thank you all for being such truthful, caring, and non judgemental friends! I didn't nor will I ever forget any one of you, and you ALL know who you are! Good Gosh...I may have not been the nicest sight to look at (I had the funkiest or shall I say ugliest glasses that I had no choice but to wear it-either that or don't see, but they were hidious! But my friends never judged my weight, or looks at the time, and boy have I changed since then (when I was able to buy the clothes I wanted, style my hair the way I liked, and also BUY CONTACTS and even glasses that are kewl, & not bad 2 look at. I was so thankful I knew even at that time that I had "TRUE friends", and ones whom loved me as a friend for who I was on the inside (and not on the out). My Saudi friends never did judge me, but made me feel comfortable as if I were 1 of them! They never once judged me on my "outside looks"! I for once was able to be myself w/all my friends, and that's what made my life the most memorable for me, and also the best years of my life (which was in Saudi)!! But the MOST memories I had was with my true friends (in which I can say was from all over the world-almost having at least 1 friend from each state)!!!! Between the drankin' times...my blasts in my pool, the awesome steak BBQ's my dad had, My HUGE fort that was completely enclosed (like a house, which was in my backyard-that had 2 queen size beds in it, lights, stereo, a phone, even a porta pottie)! AND MORE!! (We could have used a HUGE garbage can from everyone's cig' butts (instead of us thinking it was S-A-F-E burying them deep within the sand to find that with good old "Saudi Sand" made everything buried sprout to the very TOP OF THE SAND w/in a few days or a rain shower! That literally got my butt kicked (lol) in my parents knowing that all these butts just didn't appear out of no where! But the good thing about it was she knew they weren't just from me cause there was so many different brands in the sand! LMAO! It was a place where we all were able to be ourselves, AND we really didn't get into too much trouble as long as we stayed in the fort...and NOT take off (like we always seemed to get bored and had to do)! All the knocking on peoples doors and leaving, dressing up the outside of people's homes (while our families were without toilet paper in our own homes), and more! But just 2 think...none of us ever got caught by the police. OH WAIT...except for the time SHANNON claimed an arab kidnapped her in front of my home, and well(it looked like snow outside the front of my home) due to all the cops in white taking reports of what happened-or what I THOUGHT H...Expand for more
APPENED, and where she must be (when she was sitting in the bowling alley) The joke was on me-Yea...in which it almost got me arrested!) * Taking the sa di ki...from my dads shed and going to the hills and stealing or shall I say borrowing a golf cart (in our night clothes), then getting caught by security-deciding 2 leave the golf cart behind because us running was much faster....we did eventually get rid of the security and all reached back at my home ALL in one piece and not 1 of us missing....MAYBE a few more blasted than others and maybe not remembering what happened anyways!!!!!!!!! But it was always us being SAFE! Well I am going to try to meet at the reunion in May (isn't it)? Hopefully make more & new memories (as ADULTS)! LMAO! I hope all of my school friends are doing well, and if anyone comes to NC to visit...Please look me up...I've got room 4 ya to stay here, and I'm only 3 min from the beach! After leaving Saudi I advanced 1 yr graduated in 1985 in New Jersey. I worked as a postal carrier (until realizing that what they say that you can really go postal) cause well it's really true, AND after getting the union to fight for me (because I had a lemon truck) to begin with. The union was able to ge me re-hired after being fired-this is what REALLY HAPPENED...I went to deliver a parcel at someone's door, put the truck brake on, and went 2 deliver my parcel. As the woman was signing the parcel I looked behind me and saw my parcel truck...it was going in REVERSE! I thought a guy at the postal svc was playing a joke on me until it hit and knocked down the neighbors brick mailbox, and their pillar that held a lion on another cement pillar(from "Spain")..well unfort. the guy that lived there was a detective. I ended up getting fired...due to the transmission that was bad on it (it kicked into reverse) BUT a postal carrier is suppose to shut their truck off every time and bring key w/them....well even so, the union fought 4 me & when I got re-hired they made it harder on me so-I decided to quit, & start my own business. I then started my own business, and did well until I got married. Then everything just went down hill, and after 7 yrs I divorced him(another lemon). I tried one more time...but I divorced him after 1 1/2 months...which totally had 2 do w/his 2 children which is a LONG story. But I am now just looking for balance in my life...been doing stuff like interior decorating and designing, and making jewlery... but now I consider myself retired...Bought a home here in NC 5 bed/3 bath...and living only 3 min from the beach. I sure hope to get to see my old buddies from Saudi...would luv 2 see all of my old brothers and sisters of Dhahran Brats, and that's exactly how & what WE all are/were Brats...(but good brats)! Lol....hugssssss Lori Skokowski
