Lori's Story
(You can also find me on Facebook.)
My husband, Neil, and I, have been married 27 years, and our daughter, Jade, is 15 and a sophomore in high school. Neil and I became parents a little later than most when we adopted Jade from S.E. China when she was 6 months old (best decision of our lives!) Jade is beautiful and a delight, with a great sense of humor and loads of affection, but she can often be extremely stubborn - she could be the definition of "stubborn" in the dictionary! She has mild ADHD and Tourette's Syndrome, which can be a challenge, but we deal with them in stride.
Neil is a career musician, as he does booking for music acts and performs in his acoustic rock duo, The Jay and Neil Show. He also produces his and others' music/CDs in our basement studio, is getting into publishing music for others, and is quite talented musically (awesome guitar work!) and technologically with his producing skills. He's recently been doing a lot of writing, recording and producing his music for publication in TV, internet and movie productions. Neil has some work that has been purchased, and has been receiving rave reviews on his writing/production entries.

and selling two companies: a stock transfer agency and a public bank-holding co. It's been just the three of us for 12 years and much less stressful than the "olden days".
I am active on my church's Education Committee and sing in the church choir. I am the teacher for "God's Children Sing", a MusikGarten program, which is a music-based faith class. I teach babies, toddlers and their parents during the Sunday School hour - it is right up my alley and I love it! In the summer of 2010, I had thumb-joint replacement surgery on my right hand due to genetic osteoarthritis, which was causing great pain and deformity to my hand, then in 2013 had the same surgery on my left thumb. In 2011, I also had lumbar spinal fusion surgery, to relieve excruciating pain in my hips, groin and legs, sometimes so bad that I couldn't walk. Now I have screws and rods in my back, but have no nerve pain!
Sadly, my Mom unexpectedly passed of a cerebral hemorrhage in January of 2009, and Dad passed in March of 2010 from a stroke. Dad also had Alzheimer's, but we were blessed that he still knew all of us. Also, my sister and I were with him when he passed, which was an additional blessing for us.
We've lived in the Denver area, and now have lived in Highlands Ranch for almost two decades.
