Lorinda's Story
Life
Well, I am married to Clinton Pierce, who you may remember as my high school sweetheart (aw!) I recieved my Bachelor's degree in Education in 2001 and began teaching English at Pueblo Magnet High school. In the fall of 2004, I accepted a position at -- Santa Rita! I am now teaching English and Journalism there. The Talon is still going strong! We moved into our first home in November 2003. Enjoying life and looking forward to the future.
School
I can't believe it's been as long as it has. Every day, I teach at the same school where we spent 4 fabulous years, and I see whole new generations of juvenile delinquents growing into maturity. So many things are different, but a lot has stayed the same. I am so glad that I had such wonderful people in my life to share that time with. I remember Outreach (go BLUE!) and all of my "creative" buddies at The Wall. Some of you should be engineers right now, after the things I saw you do with tinfoil! I will never forget the picnics at Lakeside, huddling over by the drama building in the rain, hitting tennis balls into the parking lot and spending the whole period "looking for them" and finding just a lighter and a pack of GPC's; imagine that(hee-hee!) Santa Rita will always be a special...Expand for more
place for me. I made some of my best friends here, and I met my husband here, and I found myself in so many ways. Anyway, thanks for the memories guys. If I had to do it all over again, I would do it in a heartbeat.
College
I spent two years at Pima earning my Associate's Degree, then I tranferred to the University and received my Bachelor's. I was married my Junior year in college, so I didn't really party very much. Nothing wild or crazy, although Professor Burkhout still makes me want to pee on myself. He is scary. I will never forget Professor Jackson and his love affair with "Buffy".
Workplace
I have been a teacher since 2002. I love it. I was so lucky to have the opportunity to come back to Santa Rita in 2004 after working first as a substitute in TUSD and Catalina Foothills School Districts, and later as an English teacher at Pueblo Magnet High School, I was honored and thrilled when the opportunity to come back to SR came along. I am teaching AP English, Junior English, and Journalism. I LOVE producing the Talon, and I am thrilled to continue a Santa Rita tradition. It has been a little weird having my former teachers as co-workers, but everyone has been wonderful, and I am proud to once again be a Santa Rita Eagle!
