Lorna's Story
I got married when I was 39 as I didn't want to get married or have children as I didn't think I could be happier than I was. I was too busy travelling and having fun.
Then, I met "THE MAN". I then wanted everything that I didn't think I wanted before....marriage, children and a good home to raise them in.
We had our first child when I was 40 and second child when I was 43, and guess what????....I was happier than I ever thought I could be.
I have now been retired for about 3 years, after 31 years at SaskTel and I had a great career. I loved going to work everyday, well, almost...haha...as it was like a big family to go to everyday.
One suggestion I have for everybody is, if you don't like your job, get out of there and find one that you like. I know too many people that hate going to work everyday. I couldn't imagine getting up and not liking going to the job that you have. Life is too short to be...Expand for more

When I retired my boys were about 9 and 12 and it is so nice to be able to be at home with them at there age and they love having me home.....so far...haha. It may be a different story in a couple year.
My husband, unfortunately, is still working as he is about 9 years younger than I am.
I am so very happy that I did everything I wanted to do while I was young and started a family later, although, now some of my friends are enjoying their retirement and travelling as their children are old enough to take care of themselves.
I guess there are pros and cons either way, but I am very happy that I chose to have children when I was older as I got the travelling, partying, etc. out of my life early and now that I have got it out of my system, I can dedicate my time to my family and have no desire to do all of that.
Don't get me wrong, we still travel, but it is now with children, and I love it!!!!
