Lorraine's Story
Life
I loved Smoky Hill, the school was great, and I really had a lot of great friends, but I missed Florida!!! I had grown up in Ft. Lauderdale (actually Pompano Beach) and my whole family wanted to get back. Finally moved back during the summer between Sophomore and Junior year and am now in Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. I love the weather, but the school stunk, and I never got too involved with any of the kids here. I started working for a real estate developer in my junior year (doing cash flow projections, I learned Lotus 1-2-3 early!) and then was working full time in Senior year (I only needed 2 credits to graduate.) From here I became an Assistant Controller for a Trust Company in Palm Beach for 10 years. ended up doing accounting. I don't love accounting, but I love working with numbers, maybe someday I will put my skills to even better use, who knows! I am single, have 4 cats and have a pretty decent life. I really want to hear from some people from either Laredo Middle School or Smoky Hill or even Creek, those who graduated from 1986 or 1987 (my sister Debe is a year younger!!)
BIG CAREER CHANGE: Decided to pursue my passion for makeup artistry and have now been working at Nordstrom in Palm Beach Gardens since the store opened March 2006. Started with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and then landed the Business Manager/Resident Makeup Artist position for Yves St. Laurent Cosmetics Fall 2006 to current. Absolutely love it!!! No stress, have fun all day long and make $$$!!! Yipppeeee!!! I will never go back to sitting at a desk again.
