Louie's Story
Life.
Alive and well, married, divorced, remarried, living in Gilbert, AZ (Phoenix suburb) since '94.
Two daughters, now aged 26 and 24.
For pets, we have two dogs, a cat and a red-eared slider (turtle.) Used to have an African spurred desert tortoise. When we first got the tortoise, she could sit in the palm of your hand, and weighed about an ounce and a half. She was about four years old when we found a new home for her; at that time, she was almost 50 pounds! When we got her, we didn't realize that she could live to be 80 years old, and could get up to 150 pounds!
Work.
While at ABB/AccuRay, spent 5 years in the field (New England,) and another 10 years in project engineering in Columbus on 1180 Micro paper control systems and Mod300 Distributed Control Systems. After...Expand for more
I got caught in the Jan, 1994 layoff, ended up in AZ, working as a control engineer for one of ABB's MOD300 customers (TRW,) in their airbag propellant (a type of solid rocket fuel) manufacturing plant. Then, in 1997, jumped to Talley Defense Systems in Mesa, AZ as the lead Control Engineer for their new air-bag assembly line. I got exposed to a lot of database and Visual Basic front-end computer work there, and moved over to IT in 1999. I'm a Sr. Systems Analyst with them now; love my work.
My Time: I enjoy woodworking, leatherworking, programming, and loudspeaker design and build.
I've also built a motorized bicycle that's fun to run around on - a little sub-50 cc motor will push you right along at 25-30 mph pretty easily. Plus, these days, getting over 150 MPG can't hurt!
