College
My college work really started at Monterey Peninsula Jr. college in 1970. I had been out of school for about 18 years so I took all the BONE HEAD courses required to get up to snuff.1972-the summer of, I enrolled at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Ca. in the Architecural Engineering Program.
I realized how much I was not up to snuff in a hurry. The summer of 1974, I took a break from school and build a house in Moro Bay.It help to get rid of all my frustrations before I went back to start my final year, which started Sept. 1974 - June 1975
I learned alot about my self during this break, it was one of the best lessons I worked with. Graduated 1975. Went to work in San Jose at a Civil Engineering firm.By the way, I never did finish Hi school, nor got a ged certificate, that my friends, hurts more than you know. Ask me, I'll tell you.
Military
Joined The Army Jan.25th,1955 from Corpus Christi. Went to San Antonio for a breif Admin. over night session and the next day to Fort Bliss Tx. There I was issued what they called an Army Issue supply. It included under ware, dress uniforms, work uniforms, shoes, boots, socks, caps, dog tags, have I forgotten anything?
Shipped by train to Fort Ord. Went through ...Expand for more
my eight (8) week training. I had to stay behind for a week to make the time lost for being in the hospital with pneumonia-nice guys.Completed eight weeks, then on to C.C.Tx. for two weeks of R.&R.. Reported to Fort Sam Houston Med. Training Ctr. where I went through eight weeks of Medics training. Back to C.C.Tx. for two weeks before shipping out to Germany.Left Fort Dix New Jersey by ship in the month of June 1955, I was laying on a bunk in Bremahaven Germany on the 4th of July wondering what was going to happen to me from there. We took a troop train on to Munich, Warner Kasern just outside the city of Munich and across the street from Will Kasern. I was with a Med. Co. as a support unit to a regiment. I was able to join up with the Regiments Football team
which allowed me to travel around that part of Germany at the Armys expense. Returned to the continental U.S. aka "the land of the round door knobs"sometime in March 1956, after a grueling 13 days at sea in a troop transport.
Did some Med. training to new recruits, and my final assignment was as Fort Ord's Chief of Staff orderly. It's called "Sugar Duty".
Did that until I was discharged Jan.25,1958. Stayed in Monterey Ca., found a job, on Feb.15, and got married on Feb. 22,1958. Life started as a civilian for me and a new and different way of life in Calif. Not a Bad Move.
