Ann's Story

After high school my life followed many paths with many lessons learned from each one. I have been privileged to travel throughout this wonderful country and have had the opportunity to meet so many facinating people. I have been in utter awe at the native cajuns in southern Louisana with their wonderful cooking sytles, the Hopi and Pueblo Indians of the southwest with their amazing craftsmenship in pottery and jewelry, and the graciousness of the true mexicans which most people never experience, and the french canadians that I still can't get a grip on. After several years of administrative and accounting work, I ditched the "9 to 5" rat race and started driving a truck cross country. Not only was it a great experience to see this great country, but I have had the opportunity to experience life as I had never known it before. This was something I truely enjoyed doing and would go back out again without any hesitations. While it can be a very hard life, it can be a satisfying one as well. After 18 years of being on the road, my husband and I decided to come home and give our time and home to the help of those less fortunate than ourselves. We now take care of intellectually disabled adults in our home, offering them a life that many have never known. While it can be very challenging at times it is also very rewarding. I returned to school in 2006, and received my degree in business management in November of 2008.As for a more personal side of my life; I've been married to my 3rd husband for 15 years now.I have 2 wonderful children from previous marriages. My son is 31,and very much like his father, engaged to a wonderful young lady and they have a son that is 5--he's my pride and joy!!! I also have a daughter that is 28, never been married but is doing great. She is my inspiration and greatest friend. She is very independent a...Expand for more
nd knows what she wants out of life, and isn't afraid to go after it. I also have a step-son who I am very fond of and he also has a son that is 5 and also a great joy for me and my husband. Over the years I have learned to embrace life and go after whatever it is you desire. I spent far too long worrying about everyone else and not about me. I have come to terms with my life and who I am and make no excuses. I am happy with where I am and my current state of affairs. I don't know what the future holds, but what ever it is, I'm ready and willing to take a chance. If you never remember anything else in you life--this is worth remembering."NEVER LET ANYONE OR ANYTHING GET IN THE WAY OF REACHING YOUR DREAMS". I let so many of my dreams fade, never to be realized and now understand the meaning of that statement. Regardless of what life throws at you--never give up--go for it all. Life has so many wonderful opportunities. Some are good and some not so good, but we each have a choice of what to do with what we are given. Make the most of it. Stay positive and keep looking toward the future. It's amazing what you can find there. Try new things, go to different places, talk to people you wouldn't normally talk with and learn to forgive. This will take you far, and open doors of opportunity you never thought imaginable.Out of all the amazing people that I have met from political dignitaries, music legends, and race car drivers, one stands out like a beacon in my mind. A woman--106 years old that had some of the most amazing stories to tell. That is one of life's golden treasures. While I have missed many of my old friends I have made many new ones all across this country and feel blessed by each one. I am looking forward to the future and whatever it may hold. I have the wisdom and strength now to go forward and make a difference.
