Lynda's Story
After graduation I went to Chestnut Hill College for 1 semester. Unable to make the tuition, I started teaching at St.Michael's School and began my part-time studies. First at Villanova and then at Temple. I married Julio in 1967. Took short breaks from studies to have my 2 beautiful children and finally completed my Bachelor's after 13 years. Went on to get my Master's the following year and then 7 more years of doctoral studies. I have had many interesting jobs along the way, just some of which include researcher for a national publication, demographer for a religious/ethnic society, university instructor and social service administrator. But the best jobs have been being Mom to my son and daughter and Nana to my 5 beautiful grandchild...Expand for more
ren. Life is too short. And while I cherish the passing years watching my children and grandchildren grow and flourish, I abhor the other part of saying goodbye to those I have loved and lost over the years. When I taught life cycles in Behavioral Science and discussed the activities of aging, I did not fully comprehend the impact of loss of the lives of the "elderly", nor did I anticipate how early those losses begin and add up and impact on who we become and how we see the world. My hope is that those from my youth who read this have a long and healthy life. That they are able to be with those they love and to honestly express all the love they hold. This is a bittersweet time of life, made all that more precious if we have no regrets.
