Lynda's Story

Life hello fellow class of l968! If I've learned anything about life in the past 56 years it would be that anything can happen...like my learning to operate a COMPUTER. My lovely 2l year old opera singer daughter thinks my newly aquired craze of trying to find all the people I've lost track of over 40 years is plain crazy..(tho she secretly seems to be proud of me that I can type at all!) Yes, I WAS married and have one biological child who sings better than me and plays the piano splendidly. She is the light of my life, so to speak but not all that I busy myself with. About 20 years ago I moved to Long Island, New York, a most exciting and beautiful place. I am still in music and have been both teaching voice and piano and singing my heart out! This is a wonderful area for the arts and I am taking full advantage of it. I proudly belong to the Gilbert and Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island and am currently singing in a production of Princess Ida, one of the more obscure of the G & S operas. Although we did receive a fine review I think most of the audience was expecting the dialogue to be a bit funnier than it was, as Ida is their more serious piece. Anyway, this is what I enjoy singing nowdays and the friendships I have made thru the company have added much to my life. Prior to the Long Island move I was living and singing in Memphis, Tennessee. There I learned to fly airplanes as a hobby. It was great fun to do the touch and go's over the Mississippi River. I am so glad I had the unusual opportunity to become a pilot and the memories are unforgetable. Rec...Expand for more
ently I came back to Bensenville to visit my brother Robert (class of l974) and see a number of my childhood friends...Barbara Pettijohn (our class) and Madeline Imes (class of l969) and Susan Paige were among those I was overjoyed to see. I plan to come out to the Illinois area this summer in August. Give me a holler if you'd like to get together and especially write to let me know what you're doing. Love to hear from any of you! School You mean after all these years I am going to spill the beans? Of course, that was the easiest question to answer....Hans Behling was my biggest crush all through junior and senior high..and I don't think he looked my way. ah! youth!........Which teacher inspired me the most? Mr. Skomer and Mr. Lewis, of course!......and if I could do it all over again? Yes I would and worry less about being so shy and just say what I feel and do as I wished......High School was really a great, happy time for me and I feel truly blessed that I had such good experiences at Fenton. When I hear so many people tell such unhappy stories I sometimes wonder if I was really oblivious to the negative and just kept the positive thoughts alive. My mother lydia was an incredibly positive thinker...it is possible that her influence on me was huge. Surely since those young years I've seen and done so much....could it really be that I was that lucky to have gone to a school like Fenton? How many of you feel the same way? Go ahead and E-mail me...I've lived for so long so far removed from Bensenville and all; it would be really nice to connect to a classmate or two!
