Lynn's Story

I hope old friends remember me as the friendly, skinny girl who could sing! My favorite way to relax is to sit down at the piano and play. You can't think of anything else but the music and soon you do forget about your troubles. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have computer with dsl hook up, a telephone, and a great cup of coffee to be able to deal with the day-to-day. I grew up on Staten Island, lived in Norway, returned to Staten Island and when I married, we moved to Valley Stream, Long Island, Baltimore, MD,Schenectady, NY, West Chester, PA, Setauket, Long Island, and now Germansville, PA, because of my husband's job. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Diane Tickey, because she was my best friend in P.S.36 and in high school.. We used to raise labrador retrievers on Long Island. Currently we have a black lab and a cairn terrier and 2 cats. We've got almost 4 acres, so they have a great place to play. We had a pond built with a cascade so I have some beautiful fish as well. Raising both a boy and a girl I learned that patience, listening and being non-critical is most important. I would love to see Bruno Mattei, Spanish teacher and my counselor. I remember when he came to P.S. 36 to talk about high school spring of 1958, I thought he was the most dynamic speaker and sincere person I had ever met. I ended up working for him during my free periods in high school. If I won $100 million, I'd give $10,000,000 of it to my church, then spend the rest on my son and his family, my daughter and my husband. To be truly happy, I'd like to retire and have someone clean my house once a week!! I'd like to go on vacation more than one week a year with my husband. My current age is 64. When I was 12, I thought that people my age...Expand for more
now would be wrinkled and boring. I was so completely wrong. I am a Parish Administrator/Director of Volunteer Ministries in the fastest growing Lutheran church in the Northeast Pennsylvania Synod. What I aspire to is good health now and to when I retire in 2 years. I believe he's a fireman (maybe was) in NYC. I am a bargain hunter and am fortunate to be able to dress fashionably (despite a few extra pounds). My oldest friend of 62 years lived behind my house in Annadale. I pushed her in the baby carriage when she was born. We both lived in Norway as neighbors for 2 years - she remained and married a Norwegian, I returned to the US. We talk on the phone often, send pictures and when we are together, it's as if we never left each other's presence. My first job was at the International Soccer League in New York City, where I got paid $85 a week to do all the secretarial work, work the switchboard at lunch time and deliver the newspaper articles in person to the various newspapers in New York City. What I remember most about it is when I had to arrange, host and attend (at age 19) a cocktail party for the Brazilian Soccer Team and met and made sure Pele was comfortable at the party! What a thrill that was. A childhood memory from P.S. 36 that remains dear in my heart was when the Christmas Story and the birth of baby Jesus was acted out by the various grades and I played Mary on a donkey looking for a place in the inn. I think I got the part because my Mother was an incredible seamstress and she made the most beautiful outfit for me as the Virgin Mary. If I had one do-over, I would have gone to an American college (I did attend the University of Oslo in Norway) and become a music teacher. I love kids, I love music and I know I would have fun being a teacher.
