Lynn's Story

After Highschool I went to college planning on studying music. I ended up an art major, then a math major, I almost considered psych and writing. Between my sophmore and junior year my older sister became a christian and got me a summer job at the college she was attending. After seeing the peace and joy that these poor seminary students had I had to admit that this was real. So I gave my life to God, transfered to a Christian college, and became a music major. Never being good at figuring out what I was doing with my life I graduated a Bible major. At college I met Greg Wheaton, the only long haired guy in a Christian college. We were married and went into youth ministry. Since then I've had two boys, hence my love for action movies and my being forced to watch every monster movie made. I've even had to watch japanese horror films ready subtitle while people were screaming. Now we are pastoring a church in Taunton Massachusetts. My husband's hair is no longer long but his spirit hasn't changed. Both my husband and my sons are practical jokers, wildly creative and my best friend shakes her head every time she eats at our house. "Dinner and a show," is all she keeps saying about our meals. My longest career has been as a graphic artist. I also love to write. My husband double majored in pastoral studies and English so we have pooled our resources to produce some very unusual church dramas. My favorite is a Civil war drama. I have also written a fantasy novel that I really need to work on getting published. Writing is so much more fun than the work of trying to publish it. I...Expand for more
'm almost through with the sequal so I should really get on this. In 1997 I went to Hong Kong 5 days after it had come back under Chinese ownership. I stayed there a month helping a team that was doing the layout for a Chinese Fire Bible (a translation of the Full Life Study Bible). The Bibles had to look like ordinary books and be small enough to smuggle into china. Christians are still tortured and killed there if they are caught spreading Christianity. It was an exciting time and frightening when the military police came pounding on our door. Fortunately they had mistaken us for the brothel next door. In 1998 I was diagnosed with progressive-relapsing MS. Although it eventually forced me to stop my full time job, it really doesn't stop me from enjoying life and doing more than I should. I love working with kids because I'm just a big kid. When I teach on Jonah and the Whale the kids actually go into the whale where they are squirted with water, and sit among all the bones fromt he whales previous meals. I give the bones back to our dog when I'm done. I wrote our last Kid's Krusade complete with a midevil theme and a knight in full armor chasing me all over the church. My oldest son taught the kids sword fighting with foam weapons. He's into LARPing. So here I am, 50, still a big kid. I love life, anything creative. I hate artsy fartsy movies, give me a plot! I love anything to do with wildlife (I still catch frogs) and have a demented dog who has to have anti anxiety medication whenever we leave him alone. I'd love to tell you who I am, and I will, as soon as I figure it out.
