Lynn's Story
Life
Unfortunately I never made it to college like most of you probably did, opted to have a kid instead, not the planned type either, oh well. Anyway I think I've done pretty well for myself considering the "no college" thing. I began to work shortly after school as a Land Surveyor for a local firm, trying to use what education I had from grand ol' Arcadia to land a decent job. The beginning was rough but I am now working for the New York State DOT as a Civil Engineer, you can get away with that sort of thing here, lucky for me. I normally am out at construction sites around the Rochester area, but I do perform other duties here as well. I am happily married, again, and now have two daughters who are now 21 and 17. My husband and I have a great home in the country and we love it out here! I like to garden, go to festivals, 4 wheel, snowmobile and go to my kids sporting activities. I used to love to ski until I blew my knee out and ...Expand for more
now I'm done with that. It's hell getting old, isn't it guys! Well, I hope some of you who know me will be in touch, I would love to here from you.
Workplace
After high school, I landed a job with an Engineering firm in Rochester as a Land Surveyor, I worked at that position for about 6 years before getting a job as a construction inspector on the infamous "Can of Worms" project here in Rochester. I went between construction inspection and bridge inspection for quite a few years working for various engineering firms in the Rochester and Buffalo area until I decided that I needed something permanent and more secure. I took the State civil service test for and engineering techician and was hired by the State in 1999. I am very happy here and have had the pleasure of working with a great group of people here. I love my job and get great pleasure out of knowing that I make the roads and bridges a little safer for people to drive on!
