m's Story
Life
After grammar school and high school (more below) in Hartford, I received my BS and MS from Central Ct. St. College. While there, spent 2 summers in England taking classes and working. Met my husband in London, who was born in Devon, England but is now a US citizen. He is a gourmet chef and his work has taken us up and down the East and West coasts working for Hilton and Sheraton (Baltimore, N.J., D.C., Atlanta, Orlando, L.A., Seattle, Tampa) When we were in the D.C. area I went to nursing school and got my RN, worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse for quite a few years, then as a Psych nurse... 'til I turned my hospital into the FEDS for Medicaid fraud ... sued them under a whistle blower suit and won! Grueling but worth it. Next we lived in So Cal where my husband was the Exec Chef of Disneyland Resort and Hotels, the whole shebang!... he helped open the new theme park there and its 27 restaurants; California Adventures... Now I spend my time doing Irish genealogy and have recently traced my famine era Irish ancestors back to County Kerry Ireland. I am the host and web mistress of Co. Kerry IrelandGenWeb, its IRL-KERRY mailing list and query boards.. They call me their Kerry Cyberqueen! Now living near Tampa, Fl where my husband is doing Research and Development work for various restaurant chains.
South Cath Grads... can anyone ever forget South winning the State Basketball AND Baseball Championships not to mention finally beating East Cath in football, and Joe McMahon's golf prowess all in our se...Expand for more
nior year?! (Whenever I see the movie Hoosiers I think of South!) The wildest thing I ever did in high school was to sneak into the boys locker room when the basketball team was on an away game ... a few of us working in the drama dept and also basketball fans couldn't keep the curiosity abated... we almost got caught when the team arrived before we expected them! Scared the heck out of us! They came in one door and we ran screaming out another door... no one ever found out who we were as far as I know... but they must have heard us! My first crush... although I never told him, I had such a crush on Tommy DiGeralimo my freshman year! My favorite memories are of passing notes in class and giggling with Betty O'Donnell, whom I will always miss, dear friend RIP 1997. The sisters thought they were smart and put people in alphabetical order Freshman year to break up friends... but thats how I met Betty.. O'Connor and O'Donnell! The most trouble I got into was getting detention for chewing gum (sister Joan O'Connor made me scrape off 50 pieces from under desks.. who knew?) and the other detention was from laughing in study hall when Sister Barnabus who got caught between the floor to ceiling curtains and drapes and had to fight her way out... thats about as mischievious as I got. Oops, almost forgot, enjoying an alternate state of conscienceness <G> at a Moody Blues concert March 1970 with XX. from our class... now thats something most of my friends at South would not have known!.. well not at that point anyway!
