Malinda's Story
Life
Well, what have I done since high school? Whew. Graduated from UNC-CH (Tar Heel born and bred) in 1992 with a degree in Early Childhood Education (K-6). Taught in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for 2 years - BAD IDEA. Left in 1994 and went to UNCC to work on a Master's Degree. Got a great job opportunity from Cabarrus County Schools in 1995 and worked at Harrisburg Elementary and then Rocky River Elementary for the next 7 years.
Meanwhile, got married in 1995 and moved 1/4 mile down the street from Mom and Dad (lots of trees in between). I was/am a volunteer firefighter/EMT at Cook's Fire and Rescue in the old neighborhood, and, for a while, worked part-time for an ambulance company called Char-Meck. In 1999, they were bought by American Medical Response, a nation wide ambulance company that operates in 36 states. Somehow...Expand for more
in 2002, another great job came my way and I am now a Compliance Auditor for the company. Since the home office is in Colorado and the company pulled out of Charlotte shortly after it bought Char-Meck, I have an office in my home and I travel once every 6 weeks or so to all the Operations we have across the country.
I am still married to my husband of 12+ years, David and I have 2 wonderful boys, Tyler-7 and Justin-2 (my wildfire). We really enjoy living in the old neighborhood - Tyler goes to Paw Creek (where I went) and plays ball with Coul-Oak just like I did. We are truly blessed.
