Malon's Story

Life I am married to a lady name Linda that I met in June of 1972 and married in June of 73. We have one daughter, Emily that graduated from High School in 2002. She is one of three daughters and one son for me but as I said she is our only child. Wendy and Jenny are my older daughters and Dalton is my son. Health wise I am in great shape even though I had a bout with the big "C" in 93. I lost my hair and it never came back but, I won the war. So much for hair. "Thank God for being there for me and letting me go through it and be able to laugh about it". Broke my neck in 2004 and had to have surgery to have a Titanium Cage put in place at the C5 and C6 vertabres. Was back to work in 10 days. I have been in the Automobile business for over 30 years. The last 15 or so was with one of the Big Three Domestic manufactuerers as a Director of Fixed Operations. Mom and Dad are both gone now. They passed away 60 days apart back in 1990. I thank them for letting me know what true Love was by living it every day of their lives. Mary Ellen, my older sister passed away in 1999 at St. Francis Hospital hooked to two Thorax II mechanical hearts waiting on a transplant. Her kidneys failed. The rest of the brothers and sister are all well. Take care and I do hope you all have had as much fun in life as I have. I am truly the most blessed and the richest man I know. God has blessed me by giving me a wonderful family. He has blessed me and made me rich with great friends and great people to work with. He has let me know some beautiful people all through out my life. He has let me love two really beautiful women in my life. First is Linda, my wife, my partner, my friend, my lover, my soul mate and the most caring and loving woman I have ever known. The other, my first love who I will never forget. I thank God for everything he has done for me. He has taken me through some rough times and always allowed me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. He has let me bounce high every time I have been knocked down. Most of all he has given me his love and this life to live and love, work and play the best I can. The only way I know is through him. Quick update; as of April 28, 2006 my oldest daughter Wendy gave birth to a son she named Darin. Also on May 13, 2006 Emily gave birth to a daughter. Her name is Morgan and she has stolen my heart. She was sent here to keep me young and dreaming. Emily and Brandon are so lucky to have had such a perfect child. She is such a Happy Baby! Update July 2006: As of July 2006 we are living in Loganville. We have a 5 bedroom house on 5+ acres with a "J" shaped pool in back. We actually bought the land that Linda's Great Great Great Grandfather built the old Homeplace on when he came back from the Civil War. It had been in her family until it was sold in 1980 to a family friend but now in 2006 it is back in her family again to stay. Usually about two or three times a week we have five deer that come around and eat. It is so cool to look out the sunroom window and watch them. We have squirrels that drive Oscar, my black Cocker Spaniel crazy. My "Mother-in-Law" lives next door to us which is great. She is one of the best people I have ever known. It's easy to see where Linda got her passion for life and caring for others from. She is also one of my best friends whom I love very much and would do anything she needs or asks me to do. Update January 2008: I had major back surgery November 06, 2007. Had to have a disc removed and two vertabre stabilized. Doc put two rods, 4 screws, two plates, 4 pins, 4 studs, and some synthetic bone in my back at the L4 and L5 area. It is January now and the recouping is going great. The doctor says I am recouping like he would expect a man half my age to recoup. I reminded him what Faith and Prayer can do. Everyone else is good and Morgan is growing really fast. I wasn't able to pick her up for over two months and that was a killer. But, now I can so it is OK Update May 2008: Well Morgan is 2 and is still my little Princess. She and Emily come down every Sunday to see Papa and Nana. Morgan calls me and her Nana every night before she goes to bed. Mommy dials the phone but Morgan does all the talking. She knows if the answer machine answers and gives the phone back to her mommy and tells her to call my cell phone cause Papa's not home. It is amazing how she is putting together sentences at two years old. I built her a swing set for her 2nd birthday that she just loves. She also likes to stay in the pool until she is all wrinkled up and her lower lip is shivering. There are some new pics of her in my album. I do shoot a lot of pool though. I shoot probably 4 to 5 times a week. The Doc says it will help strengthen my back. I actually started shooting again just 4 weeks after the surgery. I am also a member of the APA and shoot in a Nine Ball League and some Tournaments. It is fun and I meet a lot of poeple that way also. Update April 2009 Well 2008 was quite a year in every sense of the word. Just thought I would update since I haven't update...Expand for more
d in about a year. I posted some pics from my 58 Birthday with all my family. My daughters and grandaughters and one grandson and two of my Son-in-laws and of course Linda. The snow that came through in March took down a tree and some limbs and one tree hit the house and we ended up having to have repairs made and a new roof. A limb took down the power lines so we went without power for a while but kept the fire going in the fireplace and stayed warm. Morgan will be three in May but first, Morgan and Emily and Linda are heading down to Disney World for 7 days starting April 25th. That is all Morgan has talked about for weeks. She is so excited and I know they will all have a great time. The back is not completely healed as of yet. It still gives me a lot of pain most of the time but the Doctors say that the surgery was a prtial success or mostly a success. They say it did what we needed to do in freeing up the nerves and stabilizing the spine. Me, I still say ouch a lot. Hey it is a different pain than before and I do get around better so... Check out the new pics and everyone take care. I will update again sometime. March 2010 - Man time really does fly doesn't it. I left a note saying that I would not be continuing my Gold Membership with Classmates. I truly appreciate all the old friends that have contacted me through classmates and hope to stay in contact with all of you till I can no longer type or call. I am on FB so come on over and look me up. I wanted to say again that I truly loved and miss Mrs. Hutcins [again I know that she remarried but she is Mrs Hutchins to me] and I am so sorry she passed just a few months ago in 2009. I will always remember her and the things she taught me about life and living. RIP Marilyn Shelby Hutchins I am still looking for something to do as I still do not like retirement. I am sure something will come up soon. I hope everyone stays in touch. October 2010 - This has been a crazy year for sure. Morgan is 4 going on 16 and just getting smarter and prettier every day. Megan and Jordan, Jenny's daughters are both in High School now at Peachtree Ridge. Kristina and Darrin, Wendy's kids are both growing up so fast that it seems they grow a few inches between visits. Dalton is going into the Coast Guard soon. My back is still giving me a lot of trouble and now my shoulders and arms are both having problems. Praying it will all get better soon. I am doing photography some and really enjoying it more and more. You can do so much more with digitial photography than we could with film. Love learning something new almost daily about it. My mother in law will be turning 75 this month and still gets around like she is in her 50's or younger. Just love being able to help her out and help take care of her and watch over her. UPDATE December 2010 What a crazy year it has been in so many ways. Here it is December 14 and it is 14 degrees outside in Loganville GA. That aint right! All in all except for my back and neck and arms I am in good shape. Linda is doing great as always and the kids are all healthy and doing good. Can't wait to see what 2011 holds for all of us. Can you believe it is 2011 almost??? Hope everyone has a Great and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! See ya on here in 2011!! September 2012: I've been going to the O'Keefe Alumni Association functions and meetings regularly for a few years now. The association does a lot of great things especially with the "Helping Hand" fund in helping former alumni when needed. They have three parties a year and a golf tournament. They also hold nine meeting a year. I have been taking the photos at each party and posting on FB so if you are on FB come join the O'Keefe Alumni page and take a look. I took class photos at the 2012 Summer Party and posted them on FB and they turned out great! I am one of the administrators of the FB page and have really enjoyed reading the post that other Alumni leave. Sorry it has been so ling since I updated but seems with FB I just don't get on here any more. Take care and look us up on FB. ******************* School [writing this 2007] At one time I would have changed everything about my High School experience. It took me a while to get over my senior year and the loss I thought I would never get over. Now I realize without that loss I wouldn't have had the wonderful life I have had and am having. I wouldn't have my children or my grand chldren. I wouldn't have my Best Friend, Partner, Soul Mate, Lover, and Wife of 34 plus years Linda. I wouldn't change anything about that part of High School but I would study harder or at least more. I think about Mrs. Hutchins, Ms. Thornton and Mrs. Dukes a lot. They had the most impact on me of all the teachers I ever had. I hope and pray that everyone has had a good life. I hope and pray that my high school love has had a great life and most of all has been healthy and happy. If I have learned one thing from my life experience it is that "Tough times never last, Tough People Do". People that Believe are the people that live.
