Mandi's Story
Life
My husband, Matt, and I married in December of 1998. He's in the Army and we lived in Tennessee (Fort Campbell) for 7 years. During our time at Campbell he did two tours in Iraq and a year in Korea. I graduated in December 2003 with a BS in Computer Science and in December 2006 with my M.A.Ed. in Instructional Technology. I currently teach college courses online and we're moving to Mannheim, Germany in April 2007. We're so excited!! We have 2 dogs, Copper and Opie, but no children yet. Email me...I would love to hear from you!
College
I went to Kent State straight out of high school and majored in secondary math education. Between the partying and the lack of money (and not really wanting to be a math teacher after all!) I took a few years off. By the time I was ready to return to school I was married and living in Tennessee. I attended Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee where I received my B.S. in Computer Science and Information Systems in 2003. I just finished my M.A.Ed. in Instructional Technology in December 2006 and am taking a bit of a break before I decide to go back for anymore college. I'd really like to work on my Ph.D. next but that's going ...Expand for more
to be difficult living in Germany so I may work on a second masters degree to make myself more marketable as an online instructor.
Workplace
After graduating with my BS from Austin Peay I got a job working there as the online advisor. I worked for Austin Peay from 2004-2006 and completed my M.A.Ed. in Instructional Technology during that time. Currently I'm an online adjunct instructor for Austin Peay. I don't know yet if I'm going to try and get a "real" job once we get to Germany or if I'm just going to try to pick up a few more online courses to make a full load. I'll have to wait and see how things go!!
Military
My husband and I met while he was stationed at Fort Knox as an instructor on the M1-A2. He then got out and joined the KY Guard. It was the Guard that sent him to flight school at Fort Rucker, where we lived for a year. When he returned to his Guard unit in Frankfort, KY, he submitted his packet and returned to active duty to fly Blackhawks. We spent 7 years at Fort Campbell, 3 years with B Co. 4-101 and 3 years with B Co. 5-101 and a year in Korea between the two. We're currently at Fort Rucker while he finishes up IPC and then we're on to Mannheim, Germany!!
