Manuel L's Story
My parents owned the bakery, known as Linden Bakery, at 538 Knickerbocker Ave. between Linden and Grove streets in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn from 1962 until the late 70's early 80's. The city knocked that block down and built 3 story buildings. I went to Bishop Loughlin High School class of 1975 and Pace University with a BBA degree. I am still single after all these years. I have no children. My mother passed away with dementia on May 1, 2016 at the age of 85. My father passed away August 10, 2022, he was 94. They bot...Expand for more
h led a full life and worked hard all their lives. I had lower back surgery in April 2017 and my health has gone down hill ever since. I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2019 and now most recently with multiple myeloma (cancer that affects plasma cells). I also have end stage renal failure and go for dialysis three times a week. I am retired and currently live with my younger brother and sister in law. I am now confined to a wheelchair. I can still get around with some help but that will not stop me from travelling.
