Marc's Story
Getting ready for another year of school. Received a scholarship for the 2008-09 school year so that has been huge! I'm going to try and do school full-time while also working full-time. I think I must be crazy.
You smile and the world smiles back? What was I thinking when I wrote that? It's true, I'm a sappy guy.
Did I mention I live with a rescue rabbit named Joey? I'll have to put a photo up. He was meant to be sold as an Easter bunny but he has one lop ear and one that stands up so he didn't sell and ended up at the humane society along with his mom and brother. His brother picked on him and when we adopted him he was covered in bite marks. Happily he healed and wasn't very traumatized by his youth. He likes to sit with me as I read or surf the web.

Since I've gone back to college and continue to work full time as a web designer I haven't had much time to relax. I like to go out to dinner and read.
The wildest thing I did during high school? I skipped class once to be in a cooking competition. Yup, that's me, wild.
I'm constantly inspired by others in the web industry. Not only because of the amazing visual design or clean code but because people are creating tools that change our society.
The culture in the industry is very open and sharing information is a big part of how we get things done.
I moved with my family to Portland one week after graduation. I went to college for a while, traveled and had fun. When the web hit big I dropped out and eventually moved to San Jose, California to get in on the action. After a few years being part of the internet boom I escaped to Michigan to work with a friend doing demographic research. It was supposed to be temporary so I could figure out what I wanted to do next but I've been in Ann Arbor nearly ten years.

art attack just after I turned 30. It leaves a hole in your soul.
"Which teacher would you love to see again? Why?"
Ms. Fietz. So many of the teachers I had were great but Ms. Fietz was my favorite and she really cared about teaching.
To be truly happy... I am, and very lucky to be where I am and doing what I love to do.
I'm a web designer at the University of Michigan Graduate School. I build things and get to work with a lot of fantastic people. Like I said, happy and lucky.
What do I wear these days? Most days I wear corporate casual. The poofy 80s hair is gone. I've had the beard since I was 20.
Weirdest job? I was a custodial host (janitor) at Walt Disney World in their College Program. It wasn't really weird but it was great fun.
I don't know what about me would surprise people at the next high school reunion. I'll let all of you fill in that blank.
