Marcia's Story

Life You knew me as Marcia Gesler. My husband and I met at Ferris State University and have been married 48 years. We have two children and four grandchildren. Our newest grandson was born April 14th 2004 In 1980 we moved from Metamora, Mi. to Houston, where Bill went to work for A-Z International as an Engineer and I worked for Aetna Life and Casualty. When the oil industry fell Bill went to work for Regal Tools as a machinest. In 1993 Bill and decided to put the big city life behind us and move to the quiet country up by Lake Sumerville. We both went to work for the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Brenham, MFE Bill retired seven years ago but I'm still with the company. I was a Stocker/Sales Associate from 1998 until November of 2007. Then due to health problems I became the Phone Operator/Fitting Room Attendant. On March 16th I will celebrate 16 years with the company. Bill and I were able to do a little traveling and had the opportunity to get back to Michigan a few times before his health kept him from any more long travels. Sorry I was not able to attend our 5oth class reunion. I hope everyone had a great time. Not much going on with our life. Bill is in the Honey Bee hobby and seems to be enjoying it. That fresh honey sure beats any honey you can get in any store. We have a few bee hives out back of our house and I enjoy getting my suite on and going out there to help him. It's hard to believe that a year from this June we well be celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary. It seems like just yesterday we said our vows. Our children are all doing great and our Grandchildren and all grown up except our youngest who will be ten in April. Our grandson Joshua was married November 30th to a wonderful girl he met while attending the University of Houston. At the moment he works for a Finance Company but this Fall plans to attend Law School. Our other Grandson is sti...Expand for more
ll attending college and still trying to decide what career he wants to be in. He goes part time and the rest he works at the same company our son and daughter-in-law work for Briley Mfg. Our granddaughter is also going to college and because she is an animal lover, wants to work at the Houston Zoo. May 9,2015 I have a few new updates to add to my story. First of all Bill and I will be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. No big plans have been made except a nice get together with our family. On November 31, 2013 our Grandson Joshua was married to a beautiful girl he met while attending the University of Houston. On April 23 of this year they had a baby boy, Leonardo Lunden Baben, This makes us Great Grandparents. Bill and I are very proud. Just to catch you up on our Bees; we had to cut down on our way of obtaining them. Since we both have leg problems and can't climb ladders anymore we gave up on trapping bees from walls in old barns and houses. We now collect the honey from the hives which we now have about twelve. Our only problem is with the rain we have had in the pass and what we are now to expect in a day or so we will be lucky to get much honey at all this Spring. We did get some from the hives last week so now we need to process it. I don't expect much though. Sept.24,2016 To continue on with my story the last thing I mentioned was our bees. Well we not only gave up the honey we also had to sell all of our hives except for one which will be in our garden once we get that in. That is going to be awhile we are at the moment building bins to put the mulch in. It has been quite a chore with the hot weather. It gets to the point we can only work outside for just so long. About a week ago it was up to 115.It has been a little bit cooler this last week but they are predicting rain for a few days. That is going to put a crimp in our outdoors work.
