Marea's Story
My oldest dearest friend is Charlotte Conn Brechner. It wasn't until we started school together in Porter at Hageman Grade School that we found out our histories went back further than that. We were both born in Gary, In. in March of 1943 and to top it off, we lived on the same street. Of course, we didn't know it until a few years later. I always wanted to be a nurse when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were upset when I didn't go to nurses training.
I don't get mad enough to blow off steam anymore. I do relax by crocheting and making beaded Christmas ornaments.
The wildest thing I ever did in school was skip school one day with my friends when we were seniors. Of course, we got caught.
