ns of the Tsimpshean and Haida. I am Raven and I come to you from the House of the Frog. My traditional name is Nack-Nock Um Ha-Na Ack In the Sm'algyax language of the Tsimshian my name means Clever Woman. I introduce myself in this manner to honor the ancient ones who suffered through the process of acculturation so that I may succeed in the Western World. I am a contradiction. I grew up in violence. I was a sex addict. I liked attention and I enjoyed the lime light. I did not think it was possible to be faithful to your significant other. I did not know how to tell the truth. I loved to steal objects and ideas. I was outrageous and infamous. I walked around with a chip on my shoulder and justified my ungodly behavior. I hurt many people and did not care. I was angry all the time. I used drugs to escape my evil mind. Spirituality, treatment and education has transformed me. I have had to divorce myself from several members of my family in order to grow personally and develop new behaviors. I've had to deal with my racism towards my own people. I fell in love with my tribes when I studied them in college and discovered what they were like precontact. These were a people who magnificently adapted to their harsh environments.".
