Gave birth to 2 daughters--both premature--one 6 weeks early, the other 3 1/2 months early. She was given a 10% chance to live, besides being told she possibly could have many negative senarios associated with her prematurity. We had no doubt she would be healed & she is. She now serves in the U.S. Navy.
Raised 3 step-kids intermittently.
Single parented three times:
once starting at 9 weeks old until age 3
once when both girls were teenagers.
and now when both girls are adults themselves
I now have 2 granddaughters: one 5 years old & one 4 months old. They really do bring me a lot of joy. So happy to have them. It's cute to see them interact with one another.
Hobbies include:
playing my flute as the Holy Spirit leads
photography
my 2 dogs
Our Border Collie was my favorite dog. The vet told us to put him to sleep when we first got him (age one). He had seisures & lived until the age of 15 years old! He has been a blessing to our family, with his sweet demeaner & extreme intelligence. We had to put him down 7-12-10. I got to be with him even though vacationing in California & WI that year.
God's mysterious ways help us believe & therefore, persevere easier through adversity.
That's my story. Care to share yours?
7-13-10 Tribute to "Andy"
I had to do it. I had to say good-bye. I didn't want to, but he was always there for me, so I had to be there for him. I want to cry. I loved him so much. My favorite dog "Andy" just had to go. He was my shadow, following me everywhere I went.
He just was too tired & exhausted from trying so hard at the end to not leave me eith...Expand for more
er, because his love was so faithful. He was too confused to be able to find the dog door, to get in out of the heat. He kept falling down, either on his seat or his side.
Before the end of his life, he was obedient & congential--with all the other dogs & my granddaughter, even just 12 days before. He was well mannored, couldn't have been more faithful & was sweet when he would knudge me to say " Here I am , I love you".
When my husband died, I hugged him & talked to him about it. The dogs were home, when my husband died there. Andy used to be his dog. He protected me & the girls after Mark was gone.
When we first got him, I said "Are you sure he's the right dog; he looks like a wolf". Then as he became my friend, he looked like a dear.
We fed him by hand, at the end. I prayed to God about working out the timing of his death. I'm leaving for Calf. today & WI in August of 2010. The right vet was working when we needed to bring him in, along with my favorite staff members. We knew it was time & had to stop his intermittent crying. As he went, his eyes didn't even capture the essence of the Andy we knew. It made it easier to accept--It didn't even look like it was Andy laying there, but looked like yet another dog, yet it was him. For I knew I had carried him from the house to the truck & laid him on the blanket on the floor of the vetinarian's just minutes before.
He's burried in our yard now, next to Bandit, Warren's favorite dog. Warren & I had burried Bandit together B4 we married & burried Andy together as husband & wife. These events have brought Warren & I closer together. God used it for something good.
He lived 15 years & 3 months but the life expectancy for a Border Collie is 13 years. I loved him so deeply. The vet said I was to be commended on the care & love Andy got, especially considering he had seisures. God gave him to me for pleasure. He was a wonderful dog. I'm so glad we enjoyed many years together.
He was my best buddy! I truly learned about love from Andy. He was so giving, waiting for hours at the door 'til I finally came home. Andy I love you. Thank you for being in my life & giving me part of you--your kindness, self-sacrificing nature & hanging close by & just loving me back, unconditionally. Love is a wonderful emotion. My dog has taught me how to be caring & congenial. Thank you for this, Andy. My tears are still flowing.
Lord: Help me love, as Andy loved. Help me be even more congenial, like he was. Who would have ever thought that animals could teach us such intricate, deep emotions! Thank you for giving me more love & kindness to share, Lord. In Jesus's name, Amen.
