Margaret's Story
After high school I became a secretary. Got married too young at 21 and was a mother at 22. Had two beautiful boys, Blaise and John, now 24 and 22. Marrying your childhood sweetheart wasn't the smartest thing and we were divorced when I was 28 years old. I said I'd never marry again. Along came my knight in shining armor, Tom. We married 10 years ago at the City Hall in Bermuda. We partially planned it but were on the beach and Tom said, "let's get married today." Best thing that's happened to me and the boys. Unfortunately, in April of 2004, my son John, then 17 years old, was diagnosed with a rare leukemia. He had a bone marrow transplant in October of 2004. He's been through hell and back. Basically we spent months at a time in the hospital. He continues to be in remission and we have been so very blessed.
Although life did change for us that day back in 2004, we try to stay positive. Some days it works, some days it doesn't.
