Margo's Story
Life
Married in "58" Had four great kids. Divorced in "79" Still had four great kids. Remarried and moved to Florida. We have been here 25 years. Kids met other people from the North, and moved back North except my youngest daughter. I have two grandchildren here and seven in the North. It is fun visiting them, but way to cold for me. (July). We just survived Hurricane Charlie, August 13 we got hit with 145mph to 175 mph winds. still have alot of damage and people without homes and it is now December. We are waiting for contractors and there is a shortage of building supplies. I faced one of my biggest fears -a major hurricane. The clean-up was grueling work in the hot sun and humidity. I hope we never go through one again or "I'M OUT OF HERE". I am now retired, as the place I worked in for 22 years was totally destroyed and they chose to not re-open. I have alot to be thankful for, no one in my family was hurt, I am finally getting a new roof, as I write this and I still have four great kids.
Update--Oct. 16th 2005 Well, we are out of there! We sold our home and moved to Peoria IL. After 25 years in florida, we threw in the beach towels in exchange for a snow shovel. Peoria is a wonderful place and I have a wooded view in the back yard of the most beautiful trees with leaves just starting to change colors . I had forgotten how beautiful fall can be. My family said they were tired of watching the weather channel and worrying about us. I think they just missed my cooking for the Holidays. My youngest daughter still lives in Port Charlotte and they figure a year or two before they can move to IL. So I will be watching the weather channel now. Dec.2005---We just got 2 1/2 inches of snow overnight. I may be nuts, but what a beautiful sight, not having seen it in 25 years. Funny. I don't remember winter being so cold, when I was a kid.------------------0020052

ctor desk.Over the intercom, at least 40 times a day, I hear, Margo, you have a call on line one.Talk on line one, Margo, "call on line two", " Please hold line one." Talk on line two, check out customer in front of me. Go back to line one. Margo "call on line three". Maa'm could you special order a door for me? "What size"? Oh,there are sizes? "just a normal door".Get the trusses ordered, Do the window take-off from the prints and order the windows, send out the framing pkg. Lady wants stakes to hold up her tree, I ask "How long do you want them?" Oh! forever. One elderly lady said she wants three or nine pieces of paneling. I ask her how many do you want-three? or nine?. She looked at me blankly and said " 3 or 9 what? She forgot what she came in to buy.One lady bought roof turbines from me three times, she complained they kept blowing off the roof. I asked her if she tightened the screws holding them down. She says Oh? I didn't know I should screw them down....and Then I go over blueprints and order any SPECIAL ORDER items , take orders from this contractor, back to line 2. Dispatch two truck drivers, help them get their orders pulled. Make the salesmen happy, do all their work. The retail end of my job was always interesting, but my favorite part was the inter-action between the contractors and Salesmen. The Salesman said "YES" to every request and then said. Margo, Make it Happen. I also handled all the commercial Accts. myself taking care of the City, School Board, Hospitals. Desoto Correctional, Condo Assoc. ETC. Blood pressure rises and now retirement is so boring. Maybe there is a nice quiet job out there somewhere for me. HERE IT IS 2015. I AM NOT DOING MUCH THESE DAYS.. GOT DIAGNOSED WITH THE BIG C LAST DECEMBER. WENT THROUGH CHEMO AND RADIATION. I DID NOT GET SICK FROM THE PROCEDURES, LOST-SOME WEIGHT BUT GAINED IT BACK. I HAVE NO SYMPTOMS AND FEEL WELL. CAT SCAN NEXT MONTH WILL SHOW IF IT SPREAD SOMEWHERE ELSE... THE CANCER DOC SAID IT IS INCURABLE BUT HAS BOUGHT ME MORE TIME. I CAN USE YOUR PRAYERS..
