Margo Mumma:

CLASS OF 1973
Corydon, IA
Lineville, IA

Margo's Story

As of February 2015: After HS graduation, I attended Iowa State University and worked for ITT Financial Services in Ames, IA. Transfered to the HQ in Minneapolis, MN as a national trainer (business travel is overrated) for 18 years. Currently semi retired working part time as Office Manager for a Manufacturer's Sales Office. Perfect for me. I have been through several obsessive interests over the years including all things British, Epsilon Sigma Alpha of Minnesota (State Chair for charity St. Jude's Childrens' Hospital), Friend of Winnipeg Police Pipe Band, American Legion Auxillary, motorcycling, gardening and singing. Currently geneology and history has me in its grasp. I return regularly to Wayne and Appanoose Counties to crawl the graveyards for 6th and 7th generation ancestors. Climbing over gates is not a pretty sight . Until I win the Powerball, I imagine traveling across the US, Germany, England, Scotland, Ireland, France and Scandinavia to walk where my ancestors lived. Imagination keeps me entertained. Realistically I will be very lucky to see a few of my list; Boston, Wethersfield, Newport, Long Island, Lancaster County PA, Winterthur, Morristown, Antietam, Shenandoah Valley, Williamsburg, The Alamo, Beaumont and Vicksburg. Eyes rolling back in your head yet? Fun for me! So homebody interests have to do for n...Expand for more
ow. I enjoy authors David McCullough, Joseph Ellis, Stephen Ambrose before the fall, James Michener for background and Anna Quinlan for a break, Kurt Vonnegut's Pillars of the Earth, Eric Sloane's America. 50 Shades is not my cup of tea. Also torment The Man by watching cspan's American History Channel, Book TV and gardening/cooking shows all weekend. He is more the NCIS type. Hooked on PBS Finding Your Roots, Masterpiece Classic for twenty years as well as recent historical series on History Channel; Sons of Patriots, Vikings, Hatfields and McCoys. Friends know not to contact me on Sunday evenings. Currently and finally partners with funny, wise and patient Bill for eleven years. I am sooooo lucky! We thoroughly enjoyed everyone at the 40th class reunion thanks to Hunt and Fry. And keep abreast of Wayne County via the Times Repulican and cousins still there. We toy with the idea of retiring in Wayne County though someplace warmer and more friendly to retirees is in competition. I could enjoy a longer seaason for greens and berries. Ah! I will always have deep affection for Wayne County Iowa. And ultimately, I will return to be with my people at the Corydon Cemetery. Hope to see more schoolmates again before then! May we have a 45th Reunion please? No float or window necessary although the Class of '73 is very good at it!
