Maria's Story
2 graduate degrees (MA in psych, DA in English) from St. John's
married since 1978
husband, Ron, is a Director of Computer Operations for a LI firm
happily child free (teaching influenced this choice)
started on executive squad at Bloomingdales (not as glamorous as it sounds)
quit to work for the feds (good money but not for me, though I stayed for 8 years)
ended up an English teacher, my true calling
retired June 2014...in the new contract there was an offer I couldn't refuse

resent helping my brother with taking care of our elderly parents, 87 and 94. God bless them!!!!
When Ron retires in 2 years, we plan to travel and spend our winters at our home in Pompano, Florida. At present we are still in our main home in New Hyde Park, but the East End is calling (will make that decision when the time comes). Meanwhile, I am reading, writing and seriously thinking of going for a masters in history (taught it for 2 years until I was offered the English position).
