Marian's Story

I am now living in Saskatchewan Canada with Ron my husband of 9 years. Between the 2 of us we have 6 children and 6 grandchildren. We own a condo on a lake in Regina and a home in Estevan. I have traveled extensively in the USA and Canada on a job that I had for 2 years and loved every minute of it. We are raising our grandson who we have custody of the 2nd time. He is a lot of fun to have around he keeps us young. I was married to Larry for 26 years and had 2 lovely daughters. Heather was married Oct 08 in Paris and Joy is getting married in Staten Island in Aug 09. Ron and I met online and fell in love. I moved to Canada as Ron was close to retiring from his company, which he is now retired after 30+ years at the age of 55. He now works in the oil patch in Estevan, SK. Ron is the very best thing that has happened to me other then the birth of my daughters. Since graduating from High School I have completed my L.P.N. course and graduated in Nov '66. I worked in Springfield Hospital for about a year then moved to Montclair, NJ. From there I got a job at Bennett College in Millbrook NY in the infirmary and worked there until I got married in 1970 to Larry Thompson. We lived in Brooklyn NY, Monsey, NY and eventual purchased a house in Scotch Plains, NJ which I lived in for 25 years. I then moved to West Milford, NJ after the divorce lived in a little cottage a couple of blocks from the lake. Loved living in the country, I had black bears that would wander threw the yard. I met Ron online in Feb of 1998, we met in June of that year and we are soul mates. We think so much alike even now after 9 years of marriage. I m...Expand for more
oved to Canada as at the time I was in a job that took me all over the USA and Canada installing and training staff on the new computer system. I loved the travelling and it gave me the opportunity to see my husband more often prior to our marriage. I finally decided I wanted to stay home and quit the job. Since then I have worked as a General Manager in a motel in Regina, then a call center. I am now semi-retired, working part time in Regina for the Southern Saskatchewan Chapter Condo Association. I love the work it gives me the opportunity to travel back and forth between our Condo in Regina and our home in Estevan. I have done a lot of different jobs over the years, retail, PIP insurance adjustor, court administrator, sold automobiles, IT installer, Call Centre, General Manager of a hotel to but name a few. I love renovating homes. I have now renovated 4 kitchens and 4 bathrooms not to mention other rooms. I tease my non hand husband he married me for my tools. Thank heavens his brother is a handyman and helps me with some of the work. I love sewing and quilting and have made curtians and other things for all the places I have lived. My life has had its ups and downs, but it is good overall, especially the last 10 years. Some of you might remember my Dad, Bill Axtman, he taught at the post graduate level at the Trade School. He and my mother have both passed away. The family is scatterd all over Canada: Ontario and Saskatchewan and the USA: NJ, VA, and TX. Keeps me busy travelling to visit the family. I have been back to MA a number of times, sometimes just passing threw on my way to some place else. Have a great day!
