Marian Kaye's Story

And the story continues. Today is 4/24/12, my nephew's birthday and a young Indian friend's arbitrary birthday. Arbitrary because he wouldn't tell me. I assigned him that date. Weird! He was a classmate in English class. I had a crush on the teacher. This boy liked my daughters. Well, another spring and yes, I've taken my spring trip to see my girls. I stayed a week in Las Vegas with my oldest daughter and family; a brief 4 nights at my younger daughters, and about 10 days or so at my #2 daughter's. I only saw my school teacher daughter for 20 minutes. Her family went camping during Easter vacation. They should have invited me. I'm typical mom, never get enough of them. However, I'm back at my mom's house and my at home job of care-giving both mom (stroke in 2011) and my step-dad (squamous cell) cancer. It's okay in the summer. It's the winters I dread. I like the outdoors. That's about it gang. Back at you! ******************************* Hi. Went to Seattle for the birth of my 2nd great grandchild, Aeden Kawika Kekahuokawaiohamauloa (Kawika means David and the next one is translated as "The guardian of living waters." He was born 7/30th. The 1st great grandson was born 6/15th on Father's Day 7.7 oz, Jaren Richard Kealoha; expired on 6/20th. Heartbroken, the parents Amber (my #2 granddaughter) and her husband Ricky have to get a lawyer as the hospital has admitted fault. GBS or group B strep infection which is a bacteria in the mother that doesn't affect her but does hurt the child when passed at the time when the water breaks. A nurse put the wrong information into Amber's file and the substitute doctor then acted upon that information. Each new mother is given a test at 37 weeks and it's positive if she has the bacteria and negative if not. The funeral was SWEET and started the grieving process. Now Amber's close cousin has delivered a healthy boy and her brother's wife will deliver in November. Amber has had her share this year of growing pains. Three weeks after the funeral she had her apendix out laproscopically and tonsillitis. Now she's out looking for a job God bless her. While on this 3 day trip to Seattle I stayed with Berdeen (#2 daughter) one night to welcome baby; the next day I went to the race track Emerald Downs, with Suzy (#3 daughter) and Ry and Finn (My youngest grandchildren. RyLynn had us betting quarters with her. She'd collect pick her horse and grandma won the fist pot ($2.00). Ry won the second one. I made the Dean's List last semester, a step down from the President's List; however this semester I'm all geared up and dreading it. Will grad in 2010 hopefully. Then on to a Master's degree in Counseling; and ...creative writing and ornithology...:-) Here's to 2008 and beyond! Life: My # 3 daughter and her husband race horses at Emerald Downs in Seattle so I do go once in a blue moon. I forget whatelse I haven't done. I took a test yesterday and today for my Social Work classes. Almost done with this semester, whew! I am still working 3 hours a day at the Pleasant View Self Storage. My girls are sweet as ever, all 4 of them. Their father will have open heart surgery soon. He'll survive. School I left White Pine as a Sophomore and was thrilled to be included in the grad news. I finished school in Reno and out of 1000 students felt pretty lost. After Reno High I went directly to BYU Hawaii and lasted a semester before I got married and had 4 daughters. We returned to school in 78 through 81 and then moved back to the mainland. My husband worked for UAL. Today we are both retired. College Actually...I graduated with a two year degree in the Boeing Company, an A.S. in Gen Studies...Expand for more
/and am still attending school for a degree in social work (for now). I am interested in English/writing/humanities/psychology/etc. I consider myself a lifetime student. Workplace I have a ten year retirement from The Boeing Company, as an admin assistant. My workplace now is my PC at home. Love to get a laptop for school at LCSC, for writing. My job is only a 3 hour job taking in payments for a storage company, Pleasant View Self Storage in Post Falls. My workplace is also taking care of mom & her husband Red. Storytelling: Oooh I'm so scared to write. I think I need a degree to do it. I know I don't. I think I need to be a hermit and close myself up in the woods to write. I really need to draw an eight fold fence around me even if I'm in a crowd and I usually am; a crowd of one, me, myself and I. Where do I start? The town of Ruth, in winter, summer, spring and fall, the chimneys staunch or curling smoke, the frost, the slick roads, the snow sleds, the pine trees, Tank Hill, the railroad crossing; the slag left behind and who is doing the clean up? The wildest thing I ever did in school? I rode with one of the boys in his hot-mobile. They were comparing how fast it would do in a quartermile. It was fast; cannot recall those 'boy' details. It was great fun to be part of the jitterbug dances with David Luce. We won a contest once and I was packing a few extra pounds then so David must have felt it! Sorry David! I loved racing to the donut shop clear at the end of town from the high school and back in our brief lunch hour. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Eddie Parks, because The day that the 8th grade let out (we lived on the same block), Eddie and I said farewell and the look we shared said how far the miles would be between our old school days and the vast empire of our future.. I always wanted to be a writer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a absurd idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have a roof over my head, an address, right-, and courage and a positive attitude, i.e., verve... to be able to deal with the day-to-day. I graduated from Lewis Clark State College 5/2/2010 and will shortly celebrate my 2nd daughter's A.S. degree in Auburn, WA. Family is doing fine and hope all is well with ya all. My mom is a hero in my eyes. As a child my powers of discernment told me she was good. I've tried to emulate her all my life. She graduated from high school with an extra year certificate in homemaking. She got an A in chemistry. She grew her hair to her waist, That's hard to do and I look better with it shoulder length anyway. She corrects herself when she errors for the most part. Even now when she is bedridden she is not mean and has a great sense of humor. She is grateful for her blessings. She is kind and would have the love of her stupid husband. Well, it's her 2nd stupid husband. My dad was her first and she lasted 18 years. He was an alcoholic and died at age 54 from a hole in his diaphragm. Red, the 2nd husband is quite a character. He is waiting for an operation on his hand. He has a finger that got hit with a knife during a card game in WWII. Red is good with cards, math, and is very smart. He won the poker pot but the guy across from him reached over and stuck a knife in his left index finger as Red scooped the pot. Every since then he has dealt with a wound that would not heal. Now he has squamous cell carcinoma and will have to have it cut off in a week or so. Smart? Hmmm. He is a non-retired carpenter and loves to work with his hands. Oh well, it's mom whom we care take and I am here for her and the bald red-haired carpenter.
