CLASS OF 1956

Marian's Story

I wa a painfully shy girl when I arrived in Japan. As time went on, I gradually (very gradually) left my shyness behind. I left Japan in the Fall of "57to begin college at the U of Md, where I pledged Theta and left after 2 years to become a United Stewardess flying out of JFK (then Idlewild). After several months, I returnedto MD and began working at the Pentagon, USNH Bethesda, and then back to the Pentagon and a move across the Potomac where I met my future husband.. After a whirlwind courtship we married, moved to his home state of California, had 3 daughters, and divorced in 1986. I moved back to Maryland after my divorce and then to Florida for a couple of years, where I looked after my invalid mother. In time, I moved back to Maryland until my girls all migrated back to California...Expand for more
. My ex bought a house up here in Sacramento County and moved us out here. I've been here since 2001 and will (I hope) eventually be moving down to the Bay Area to be near my daughters and my exquisite granddaughter, Mia. I've had some serious health issues but am determined to overcome them, and get back to good health and a full life. My 3 girls, Melissa, Erinn, and Gretchen run a family-owned construcion company and do Hotel remodels. Melissa spends her weekends travelling about the country as Booth Manager for Sunday Night Football. She also does the olympics with Al Michaels and wants to make TV her permanent job eventually.l That's about all of it, Oh yes, for a while there I was a Floral Designer in the Bay Area, with my own business, Countryflowers, which I'd love to resurrect.
