Both of my kids attended Foothill High at various times in the late 80's, early 90's. Two grandsons in their 20 s, and two GREAT grandsons! Amazing! on and 80% back to me! Hey, guys - this nasty little cancer is why we have our kids and grandkids vaccinated for HPV when they are pre-teen/young teens. 90% of all adults will get HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) at some point - 90% of those who get it will clear the virus from their systems and never knew they even had it because it's asymptomatic and there are no tests to find out either, 10% won't clear the virus from their systems. That 10% can carry the virus in their systems for decades - and in us "lucky" ones, the virus will cause a variety of nasty genital and/or neck/throat cancers. Some of them are highly curable and some aren't. I was truly blessed, that my cancer (HPV 16+ Squamous Cell Carcinoma base of tongue) is one that is 85% curable with an extremely aggressive treatment. HPV doesn't care about socio-economics, or how "active" sexually one is or isn't - there is no rhyme or reason to who gets it or whose bodies it stays in, There's no shame, no blame - it is what it is. I think I'm a reunion addict - I love going to class reunions! Especially as we get older, it's so much fun to reconnect with people. Have been to reunions for Cabrillo, Foothill and Roosevelt - it covers just about all my friends from junior and high school. Hope to see you there someday! What are you doing now? How has life treated you? Or, how have you treated life??? Would love to chat with any and all! Old friends, new friends - no matter! Marie
