Maria Gloria's Story
Life
My Spouse
Two years after I graduated from high school I married an Army officer after 11 years we divorced. I met my second husband on a blind date, now we have been married over 29 wonderful years, I've been blessed with a good man. We were in the military and did extensive traveling, I've learned about many different cultures, life and met many wonderful friends.
While stationed in Hawaii I belonged to a women's singing group, we entertained various high official government functions, I enjoyed it and it was a lot of fun. I was correspondent Secretary for the Officer's Wives club in various States. During my year in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas I was Miss Buffalo Queen,it was a lot of fun. In Hawaii I was taught the art of ceramics from Hawaiian Artisans, they helped bring out my artistic talents. While stationed in Germany I belonged to a women's rifle team, I became a target sharpshooter, was fun going to the rifle range but its not a hobby i do anymore. Through out my years in the military I have learned a lot and so have my daughters, it was a unique experience in our lives.
My Kids
I have two beautiful young women who have blessed me with 11 beautiful grandchildren (7 grandsons and 4 granddaughters, a great granddaughter Faye, 6 yrs old and great grandson William Mast /6 ys old and Daniel Rowan Condit, 3 yrs old, my life is very full., they sure keep me very busy.
I did work as an Optometry Technician in Austin, Tx, I did preliminaries for the Optometrist and also am the Office Manager. Years ago in Utah I worked for an International Jewelry Company and designed key chains and belt buckles which are still sold today in various states. Later I ran a successful day care center for a few years but after the grandchildren started coming I closed it down, my family is a top priority. I also did own a ceramic business but due to health reasons I had to close up shop. I also enjoy writing poetry, one of my poems has been published so far. I am retired now and taking it easy enjoying my grandkid and great grand kid, i love my family!
I enjoy traveling, movies, dinner, music, I have a variety of interests. Life has been good to me, I currently had to replace my pacemaker, because of this wonderful small high tech device I've been able to see my last 3 grandchildren and enjoy my older ones. I've been given the gift of life and I try to enjoy it to the fullest. My grandkids nicked named me the "Bionic Nana" LOL.
Military
I was a military dependent for over 25 years and traveled extensively to many "fun" places. My most exciting assignments were Europe and Hawaii, along the way I met many wonderful people from various countries and U.S. We are retired now, now and then I still miss the excitement of a new assignment, living in a military base but have gotten use to being a civilian too. We still try to travel but as a vacation now. I don't regret be...Expand for more
ing part of the military world, was exciting as well as educational.
Currently besides being retired, I am also babysitting grandchildren on and off with the older ones I take and pick them up from work. I keep very busy, it's never a dull moment around here especially having a large family. I am also working on my Family Tree on Ancestry.com, it's been exciting to dig up family history that way. My tree is getting larger and larger with all the information I have been accumulating, it's been quite an interesting adventure. I want to leave my children and grandchildren a family legacy of our colorful rich history, it's also a way for me to just sit back and relax, chill a while. I also enjoy watching movies I rent from N.F., it's my "me" time, haha, but to just go ahhh and escape for a bit. Our grandchildren are our life, I thoroughly enjoy them as they are finding out that we will do anything for them or try too especially when they are in trouble and need help. Who said your job is done when your kids leave home? LOl, Not with us, we are a very close knit family, me and my husband are so blessed with this wonderful family.
Right now I have 10 people living with us,1 young man, and 7 children 19 and under, plus3 adults; due to the economy my daughter lost her house so had to move in with us. All I can say that there is never a dull moment around here, not to mention the utilities going sky high. But I'd do it again if I had to, that is what families are for, we stick together. We some how manage especially with all the rug rats running around, LOL. My escape is when I work or go to a Dr. appointment or just chill in my room. I do play mind games on my Kindle or computer to relax me or watch movies. This my life right now. :)
I am currently retired and enjoying my life, yes I still have a houseful of people, ha ha, doesn't seem they will leave any time soon, so we just make the best of it, we all take care of the little ones, including changing diapers, feeding them and of course playing with them. They sure keep me busy, but I love it!. I still enjoy my movies, my second oldest (17)granddaughter and i love to watch horror movies and scream together on scary parts. Ha ha, we enjoy it and it's "our" special time together, All in all, things are going ok here.
