Marilee's Story
Life
I'm living in Chandler, Arizona; I retired in 2006 as the Director of Accountability/Program Improvement from the Arizona Dept of Education. Been here since 1990. Came from Muncie Indiana, where I left the job of Director, Computer Lab Facilities at Ball State University. Lived in Muncie for 20 years, working overseas several times in Indonesia, Greece and Spain.
Been married since 1970; husband is now retired and cancer-free since 2002. Became parents to 3 Indonesian teenagers in 1992; one autistic son is still living at home, graduating with a Master's Degree from and working at Arizona State University doing research with alternative fuels made of algae, and bioremediation with algae.
Our eldest, a daughter, is married. She has two children and lives in Jakarta, Indonesia. The oldest son lives here in Mesa, Arizona working as a project manager for a construction company specializing in shopping malls. He is the father to our micro-premie...Expand for more
grandson, now soon to be 3 years old, already diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder and other issues due to his very early birth. Our newest granddaughter is 5 month old and doing well.
My husband's health issues have meant we sold our Beaver Patriot RV and no longer volunteer at either Ft. Flagler State Park on Marrowstone Island or Ft. Casey State Park on Whidbey Island in Washington State. Instead, I am re-discovering my love of painting and drawing, as well as re-educating myself with an on-line sewing course. Clearing out the house (the process of "purging" things we don't need) is also a daily activity...downsizing is a process best handled over a long period of time.
Currently have only one dog, a rescue mixed-breed named Rockey.
College
Attended the University of Southern California until 1971, when my husband took a job at Ball State University in Muncie Indiana. Finished my undergrad degree at Ball State and took my Masters there.
