Marilyn's Story
Life
I have 10 grandchildren now and one great-granddaughter (6 boys and 5 girls)and I don't anticipate anymore. I still work at Rebekah Children's Home in Gilroy as a Residential Counselor. It's fantastic and I look forward to going to work every day. This is the first time I've actually looked forward to getting up and going to work. It's a level 14 facility but so far, I haven't had any problems with any of the kids. I've been lucky. They look at me as a GRANDMA figure, which is nice so they all respect me. I feel sorry for some of the other staff that constantly get kicked, cursed at or get things thrown at them. I've also been working at my daughter's two facilities...Expand for more
"Haven of Hope". She has a level 12 facility in Watsonville (The Halcyon House) and a level 12 facility in Aptos (The Abeona House). Sometimes I get to bring the kids home from Haven of Hope for the weekend and they really look forward to that. In fact I took two of the girls (15 years of age) to Disneyland because they were star status and doing very well at the facility. We had a blast. Well, I have to go now. I hope every one of you are doing fine. Don't forget we always have a get together the SATURDAY before MOTHER'S DAY EVERY YEAR for classmates & friends, no matter what year they graduated.
