Marilyn's Story

My Life I was Marilyn Chambers at the time I attended Wingfield. My brother's name is Jesse Chambers. We were know as the twins. I am now Marilyn Dailey and I have been married for the past 20 years to a wonderful man in Evergreen, Alabama. Since graduation I began my college experience at Alcorn State University in Lorman, MS,where I was a voice major for three years. I later attended William Carey College in Hattiesburg, MS where I graduated in Elementary Education. I also pledged Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority during this time. I continued my education at University of Southern Mississippi where I majored in Special Education under a temporary license for the next three years. Lastly,I attended Alabama State University where I received both a Master's degree and a Specialist degree in Elementary Education. I have taught at different schools ranging from 1st grade to 12th. The schools were located from Mississippi to Alabama. My biggest accomplishments were made in Alabama where I was elected Teacher of the Year in 1997 for my county, and I received an Education Specialist degree in May of 2001 from Alabama State University,I served a...Expand for more
s a Reading Coordinator for my school. I have since then retired and I am now a published writer and a Notary Public for the State of Alabama. I have written two books that are sold on Amazon.com and Barnes&Nobles.com. My first book is a poetry book called "Words to a Beautiful Sunset". My second book is a children's book called "The World According to Buckey". From time to time I whip out the old album just to get a glimpse at the faces I use to know and see. I have to say that my Wingfield family will always remain a part of my life and a part of what inspired me to continue in education. I wasn't the brightest student then but as time went on things started to stick and develop for me. I was never considered to be in the "in" crowd. I can remember some really good teachers there. One of which got me started into public speaking and from this I realized that talking would forever be a part of my future work. To all of my classmates, I hope that you have done well and are happy with your lives. I would like to hear from more of you and find out what's happening.
