Maril's Story

Oi. Round three, 4-28-24. I don't know if anyone is actually reading this stuff. If you are, will you just send some one or two- worded comment thru this Classmates thing? Like "yes", "no" "hell no". I will write a very loooooong, 50-yrs summarized version later. When, especially "if", I can find/collect all my marbles. Exactly 50 days ago, I had no idea I was going to be re-locating from the one, the ONLY, house mortgage payments were made on. Been in this house for 33 years. But, 49 days ago, youngest daughter, Michelle (rest of world's inhabitants call her "Chelley"), who does not make her living in the real estate world, but tangles with it out of "love", sent me a listing for a property very close to her "King-dom" (her last name is King). Michelle will be 37 years old in a couple weeks, BUT, has successfully practiced the Jedi hand-wave/make The Force's "will" happen, skills since she was about 37 months old. Without seeing the place, except in pictures, this "thus-far-in-life- totally-city-girl", placed a contingency offer on a 4.5 acre property, complete with totally remodeled, empty for a year, 1975-built, manufactured home; a few sheds, a huge "shop?" (it doesn't look like a barn but served as one for horses; four compartments, almost as big as my house!), totally fenced, some really big trees, and lots of pasture-land. I didn't actually go see the property until maybe 3 weeks ago? It is quite beautiful. But. That meant getting my 52 yr old home for turnover. My house was listed March 25th, offer acce...Expand for more
pted April 8th, with 13 showings and one open house, which meant counters cleared, everything just picture perfect (couldn't find my butter and other stuff for a couple weeks), and, of course, the more tactfully put version of, " Homeowner!! you and dogs get out!!", on 2 hrs notice. Then inspections, and fixies, and just insane stuff. Any of this turmoil ring a bell with y'all? If you have advice, please, really!, please, share it. And it's not just my urban-ish end of the deal. The gentleman selling his family property? Staunch. Matter-of-fact. My way is THE way. But, at least for the last 4 days, I've been able to pack-up, transport, and store, in his barn, some of my stuff. Pretty big concession. Oi. All comes to a head, both closings, this week. Thursday my house, Friday, the funny farm. Course, one does accumulate "stuff" in 33 years. And I am a bit into trees (maybe more than "a few"), plants everywhere (lawn is so boring!!!) , cutesy fencing to thwart off 3 of my 4 hens (one absolutely does not accept the concept of boundaries), seven cats, two dogs, two super-spoiled rabbits, and a ton of toys for grandkids.... anyway, lots to do, and "get real" about. I hope to not be involuntarily committed, and make it to the reunion. Plus find time, AND my computer once stowed away this week, to continue "The Book of Maril". Oh. The three youngest grandchildren? Ages 10, 9, and 5. They have already laid claim to which rooms would be "theirs", AND told me where they want a zipline. 4
