Marilyn's Story
I did not actually attend Granby during my Senior year (65). My parents decided I needed a change of scenery so they stuck me in Maury. Nevertheless, I still consider myself a member of the Granby class of 65!
My marriages were like the story of Goldilocks.. one was too young, one was too old, and one was just right,, at least I thought so for 22 years. I am now married to a true gentleman. I finally got it right the 4th time down the aisle!
Career-wise, due to having babies and following various husbands from transfer to transfer, my resume is not terribly impressive. From the Tidewater Trading Post in Norfolk to Richmond as a Ford Motor Co locator and many years as a sales rep with Carmine Foods. Then off to Baton Rouge, LA where I worked as a Sr QA/QC document controller at the nuclear plant in St. Francisville. Then on to Bay City, TX and the public library. Next it was off to Stephenville, TX and many years with the Tarleton Univ. Library. In case you do not know this tidbit of trivia, Stephenville is "ÂThe Cowboy ...Expand for more
Capital of the World". Now you know! And yes, I wore boots and learned the 2-step and the Cotton-Eyed Joe! We ran a boarding stable and were into horse-showing big time. Finally, after the last divorce, I moved here to Houston. I spent a couple of years in insurance work while my husband has spent 30+ years in the oil & gas industry. My mother lived with us for 11 years until she passed away at age 94..
Kids are next, right? I have 5 ranging in age from 37 to 49. They are a bit scattered, living in Virginia, Florida. and Louisiana.. Fortunately 2 of mine plus 2 stepchildren are here in Houston and I am the proud grandma of 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren!
My hobbies range from the quiet of reading to the craziness of the casino. I also spend a lot of time with my 2 rescue dogs, and selling on Ebay.
Retirement is right around the corner and we can hardly wait to get away from the heat, humidity, and traffic of Houston. We're looking for 4 seasons, snow, mountains, and a lake. So who knows where we will wind up?
