Marionne's Story

I have a handful of close friends, as well as a loving and supportive husband. We are where we want to be - since we married we made it our goal to move to the Lower Mainland. We struggled through 5 years and here we are! We're so happy to have moved out of Alberta. Of course my family followed suit... :) I wouldn't say it was a 8 year mistake moving from Kamloops to Calgary, but I wouldn't have found my husband if it hadn't been for that! Since we've been here, we've done so much better financially - we were always struggling to make ends meet in Alberta, case in point, a bad year here is a "good" year there. My family's in agreement too...they're doing much better here too :) There's always work out here, and that's always a good thing! We even gained new friends. Go Canucks Go! It's a common misconception that it's always raining here, not true... it's so beautiful and sunny here alot of the time :) Remember...there's so much to do here too....so many parks to explore in, beautiful stuff! Castle Fun Park in Abbotsford, Grouse Mountain, Aquarium, Zoo, hanging suspension bridges, tons of beaches too :) oh, and don't forget the countless restaurants with so many yummy dishes to try! Butter Chicken anyone? Even with these economically challenged times - we're doing alright, making it through...we've managed to decrease our debts and lower our bills, budget better, getting more thrifty-conscience, being content with the things accumulated up to this point, and not take on any new bills/debts. The best tip I can give, is keep contributing to the businesses, not the "underground" stuff, it'll just cause more problems for the economy; ...Expand for more
don't take on credit cards, unless you can pay it back ASAP! ...so don't get sucked into a financial warp-hole with no way to get out of it. Be a friend and help a friend in need :) Looking at this website has brought back a flood of memories of my grad class. Life may not have turned out exactly the way I planned, but I'm very thankful the way my life is. Currently I don't have plans to return to my old school, but eventually time and curiosity will lead me back ;) I'm curious to see what kind of changes there has been to my old high school, etc... I've only returned to Kamloops a couple of times. I'm impressed there's been quite a few changes. As of right now, we don't own any pets, except for dust bunnies of course! My husband's allergic to most animals, so we'll have to wait till the right time and the right hypo-allergenic animal. If anyone is interested in getting around and at the same time saving the environment without so much as breaking a sweat, please check out electric bikes and scooters in your area. There are some fun options to look at, starting at $500. There's an environmental incentives program here in the Lower Mainland, which we took part in this year. It's called the "Scrap-It Program" - if your vehicle qualifies, you have to had an older car (1995 & prior) insured for 12 months, and once you get the approval letter, follow the directions. Then make your choice of bikes & bus passes, or a small downpayment on a fuel-efficient vehicle, or a credits for car-sharing program (car2go) in Vancouver. I'm sorry I haven't posted any pictures yet, but please keep coming back. Eventually I'll upload some. Ta-ta for now!
