Marjorie's Story
Life
I attended Immaculate Conception Grade School (1961-1969), then Union High School (1969-1973). Married a former Immaculate Conception Schoolmate (Eugene Longsdon) in June of 1973. He had transferred from Immaculate Conception Grade School after 4th grade to Cambellton Grade School and we met again when we were asked to be partners in my Aunt's wedding in 1970. We've been happily married 32 years, now!
I have had jobs as a drugstore clerk (anybody remember good old McDonald's Drug Store?), I worked as a box maker and then a seamstress at Wondermaid, Co. in Washington, MO, I worked at Hazel as a seamstress of zippered garment bags, and in 1976 my first daughter was born, so I became a stay-at-home Mom. In 1980, my second daughter was born and at only 9 mo. old she started having serious health problems and, at age 1 yr., was diagnosed with 'Pre-Leukemia Syndrome' and we were told she probably would have a life expectancy of approximately 3 yrs.! The good news is that she made liars out of the Doctor's...She is 25 years old now...Expand for more
and going strong!
When our second Daughter entered 1st grade, I started working again as a grocery stocker at Lyon Store, New Haven, MO. There was an opening there, for bookkeeper, which I jumped at, after I'd only been there 6 months. I worked as bookkeeper for about 5 years.
I also worked as a certified Optician at Dr. Hill's office, Union, for approximately 5 years.
We have 3 cats, an 18 lb. adopted short hair cat with a great personality, named Max, an 8 lb. Himalayian cat, named Lucy, and a 17 lb. gray tiger striped stray, named Sophie.
My 2 best friends are LaRayne Humphrey-Brune and Rhonda Carr-Linne who were my best friends and classmates in High School!
I've become a Domestic Engineer/Errand runner/Helper for my husband, who not only has a day job at Bussen Quarry as a Driller/Blaster, but is a woodworker/cabinetry maker also.
In 1999 our oldest daughter married Brian Herron, son of Bruce Herron (fellow classmate), and in 2001 made us Grandparents of a terrific little boy named Jayden! Life just gets better all the time!
