Marjorie's Story
Life
After graduation we moved to California where I attended a business college. While on my first job, met my first husband. I married at 20 and was divorced at 32. I remarried at 35 and was widowed at 42. I remarried at 45 and I am still happily married to a retired Air Force Pilot. My second husband owned a small machine shop which I assumed management of when he was killed in an auto accident. We now manufacture couplings for the hose industry and ship throughout the US and we also export. The passing of both of my parents within 10 months of each other made me re-examine my priorities.
I am now semi-retired, working at the company 3 three days a week and we travel whenever possible. I will still own the company, but my only son, Bill, manages it when I am away.. I feel truly blessed for the life that I have.
Workplace
After graduation from Business College in 1962, held various accounting and administrative positions only taking time out for the birth of my only child, Bill. In 1986, after the accidental death of my 2nd husband, I assumed management of our manufacturing business (Anco International, Inc.) that was started in 1978. Our business has grown from a small machining facility to a well-established supplier of industrial hose couplings, serving the US and several foreign countries. I have been very fortunate with the success of the business and I am now ready to semi-retire. After wearing so many hats in the business, it is difficult to just STOP, so I work part time and plan on travelling and doing volunteer work until I move on to something else.
