Mark's Story
I attended NCSU after graduation from ER and majored in Mechanical Engineering. After 4 years of studying, it was time to get out on my own. I took a job in Winston Salem working for an industrial air conditioning company. The company has changed names and diversified over the years, but it has remained interesting enough for me to stay. I worked as a design engineer for many years, moved into management of a small group and now manage one division of the company. It's more management than engineering now, something I would have never thought possible.
I married later in life than most of you, at 30. We had 3 children, my last when I was 40. They tend to keep you young. As many of you are now empty nesters with grandchildren, my oldest son is in college, my second son is a senior at Ledford HS ...Expand for more
and my youngest, a girl, is at Ledford Middle School as of 2008. I've heard more than once from my children that some friend of theirs has a grandad that is about my age! Oh well, that's what I get for being a late bloomer.
We live in Wallburg, NC in northeastern Davidson County. The remainder of my brothers and sisters all live in Randolph County and attend the same church I grew up in. You can probably say that I'm the black sheep of the family that moved away. I visit my mom pretty often and occasionally see some of you around Ramseur.
Our goals are to raise children that love God and their neighbor. Beyond that, we will let them find their own place in this world. They may not be the best athlete or top scholar among their peers, but if their priorities are right they will do amazing things.
