Mark's Story

Life A short stint at BCC in the Arts, missed the draft by 2 weeks (I do have great respect for those that served, but I had no desire to live and hang out with men I don't know to prepare to kill people), then spent time floundering around the Berkshires after that, which were good times, since there was a lot happening back then, traveled, some, partied too much. Had some great relationships, screwed most of them up (but not all of them!), did some professional road racing (for, what turned out to be an unprofessional outfit) living in PA., moved back to Lenox, got into the car business on the service end in '81 and have been managing service depts. ever since. Got married in '94, that lasted 10 hours (not my fault). In 2000 I did a short stint as a "carnie" (not a lifestyle I'd recommend to your children) to help a friend of mine. To save myself, I got a real job again and moved to NH in 2004 to work for a large auto dealer, now living in Rensselaer, NY. I am fortunate that my parents still live in their home in Lenox and are doing relatively well for their age. If I could name only one regret, it is that I didn't have children. 2007 - 2008 has not been a good time for me. I was laid off from a greaT job in NH, moved to the Albany, NY to be close to family and loved ones. The idiot who I ...Expand for more
agreed to work for wanted to back out after I had moved and signed a lease. After being jerked around for 3 weeks, I finally started, only to be let go a short time later using the lame excuse that I should have completely turned his service department around in the few months I was there. Being out of work right before Christmas is not a good time to be looking for work, couldn't collect unemployment, pay my lease or any other bill, became homeless, which is quite a humbling experience. During a recent storm, I rear-ended a tractor trailer, so no car for now. The motorcycle in the photo? While I was riding it up a ramp to load it on a truck, the chain came off, locked up the rear wheel and threw me about 5 feet to the ground, where the bike joined me a second later. As of November, 2008, I was living in downtown Albany overlooking Washington Park. In May 2009 I heard my brothers Bruce and Alan were goibg to our parents to convince them to leave their home and go onto assisted living. It ended up that I took care of them for a year, then after my father passed away and my mother moved into Kimball Farms. I am now living in Greenville, NC. Getting off classmates, so look for me on FB. As long as I keep waking up everyday, life is good, I am thankful and more fortunate than many other people.
