Mark's Story

Life The new SHALER77.COM website! Have you visited our new site? Find your friends and other stuff there -- for FREE! THE REUNION PARTY BLOG The 30th Reunion held on Saturday Aug 25 2007 was a blast. Thanks to Lisa, Peggy, Sharon, Sandy, and everyone else who organized. What started out as a risk of not having enough people to hold the reunion, turned into a fun (albeit small - given 836 graduating classmates) party. The location, room and food were good, and with a smaller group it was easy to spend enough time talking to everybody that came. I spent the evening laughing at stories with Carol Lickas, Joe Masa, Mike and Leann Mihelic, Peggy Welty, Rhonda and Chris Lope, John and Maryann Lasky (surprise last minute show), Kim and Bill Roderick, Kevin Morgan, etc. My longtime favorite homeroom next-desk neighbor Barb Beck was there too (if our friends Lou Beckwith and Bonnie Beckert would have come, we would have covered our old row). Dave Green caught me up on the whereabouts of a bunch of folks we missed seeing here (Tom, Tony, etc). Even my St. Bonaventure grade school fellow alums Tracy O'Connell and Gary Grillette flew in from NC and CA for this. Diane Martier, Peggy Welty and some of the women still looked like they just came out of school leaving me age envious. Finally, the party dudes Glen Schafer, Bob Hefferin (on crutches) and Brian Reynolds threw an intimate after party in their room (until security broke it up at 1:30am) complete with a full bar, and some vintage CDs (K...Expand for more
ansas!). Rick and Linda (Ruffner) Grubic, Lickas, O'Connell, and a handful of misspent youths closed out my night. OK, we missed a bunch of people. I would have loved cameo appearances by Norm and Norma, Nancy McDonough, Lunz, Vecchio, Tish Wisinski, Doug Smyers, Lauren Ebner, Eileen Thompson, Dave Brehl, Glaab, Corinne Mason and Tammy Triplett (my favorite neighbors), and a bunch of other people who I still hold great memories of. I'm trying to get Cristina Pinto's email address again in Brazil (since I know you stop in on this site occasionally Cris). We committed at the party to definitely plan a better attended 35th, with Bill Roderick being drunk enough to promise to lead the charge (ok Bill, I'll help). We also have set up a photo album on-line at Snapfish.com for reunion photos (email me for the log-in info). We also will set up our own Shaler 77 website with updated contact info for everybody instead of using Classmates.com. You can reach me at: marktbecker at ureach dot com (spelled out here to pass the Classmate.com screeners who don't like you leaving personal email addresses). (cell phone # is spelled out: five six one two eight nine zero four three one) Stay in touch, and sorry if somehow you didn't get word on the party until too late. We're now planning an informal happy hours the weekend before Xmas to see if we can catch up with some more folks who missed the reunion. And I hope you'll let me know if anyone is in, or coming into NYC area where I'm based now. Mark
