Mark's Story
I was diagnosed with a brain tumor on Feb. 14, 2004. WHAT..... me, why??? On November 26, the day after Thanksgiving, I found out it was caner!!!! It was a stage II oligodendrglioma... I was given 5 years. Well, I went through 6 months of chemo... before I had surgery. Surgery was done July 7th, 2005, and it was done while I was awake.... because of it being near the speeh and motor centers. It end up being a 7 hour surgery. st the ability to speak and the use of my right side. I have my speech back.... a few words still trip me up. I am walking, but the use of my hand is SLOWLY coming back. The tumor ended up being the size of a soda can!!!! So far the 95% they got has remaned stable. I have to wait until July 7, 2009 until I can be in remission.... It is funny.... I had the option of the tumor taking my life.... or... the chance to be alive with minor disability.... as you can see that is the choice I made!!!
