Mark's Story
Well, after getting messages that my profile-( Which I did'nt know I had.)- had been viewed by some people, I thought I'd better come see what all the ruckus was in here.
I had enough credits in my junior year ("78") at 17 yrs. old, that I could take off and join the Marines. I got my last two there. Spent four years doing aircraft recovery and firefighting. Got out, got married, moved to Priest Lk. Had four children. Fought forest fires as a sawyer for about 12 yrs, a few yrs on the Lolo Hotshot crew out of Missoula, Bartended and logging in the winters. Lived at the lake or about 14 years, where I was the first Asst. Fire Chief of Coolin/Cavanaugh Bay fire district. We built the building ourselves, bought our first fire engine with private money. Some of you tourist types might've caught me playing guitar with friends in the bars at Priest lake. Got divorced and moved to Spokane when I got custody of my two oldest, quit my job at Cd'A Fire Dept. and promised I'd leave them in school in Spokane. Been around the country playing and working and finally at 36 yrs old settled back in Spokane. Still a bit on the wild side playin' in the mud and mountains and the lake with my jeep and kids. Played guitar in a couple of bar bands and still play all the time. Working now at Deer Park Ambulance for the past 20 as of 2024 yrs. where I'm a senior E.M.T. instructo...Expand for more
r, FTO, Driving instructor. Kids are grown and I have one grandson. He thinks I own every ambulance and fire engine he see's. just like my kids thought that Priest Lk. was mine and that Smokey Bear was my boss.
My son Shannon was murdered in Jan. of '09 walking home from work. He was 22. And ten months later my uncle was shot 6 times at Fort Hood trying to throw a chair at the gunman. They both had the same middle name. And it was quite a year. We'd lost seven family members on one side of my family in tragic, unnatural ways in three years.
I'd always been asked if I still hang out with or see anyone I went to high school with. And I just thought everyone moved, because I never really have. And I've checked out a few of your guys' profiles and photos... GAWD !!! We all still look like we did when we were kids to an extent Ahahhahahhahaaaa.... And some look way better. Other than that, It was nice looking through all the yearbooks. Sheesh, the memories come flooding back thinking of the fun we had, how many times did we all meet up down on Riverside, cruisin' listening to the best music ever., making the summers great, Just like in the movies ahhahhaaaa. The things we did and seeing all those that I was friends with and hope that you are all doing well, and will stop in and say "Hey" sometime. "Life's what happens to you when you're making other plans."
