Mark's Story
PERSONAL: Mark is a lucky husband and the proud father of two very accomplished daughters who both earned masters degrees from extremely prestigious schools. Laura earned hers from Columbia University and Stephanie earned hers from Johns Hopkins University. Mark’s wife, Michelle, retired at the end of 2025 after an award winning 35 year career at The Hartford, and they are both looking forward to returning to Europe (especially San Gimignano, Italy and Amsterdam, Netherlands), the Caribbean and doing more travel to new destinations around the world, not to mention visiting the remaining MLB and MiLB stadiums they’ve not been to during the last 22 years.
POST MHS AND PROFESSIONAL CAREER: After graduation from MHS, Mark attended Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and Government. Immediately upon graduating from Ripon, Mark attended Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, California where he earned a Juris Doctor degree. Upon receiving his degree, he returned to Indiana and accepted a position as an associate attorney for a general practice law firm in Valparaiso, IN and after seven years, opened his own law firm in Valparaiso.

Southern Districts of the Federal Court in Indiana, the Northern District Federal Court in Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals, 7th Circuit. He is also a Life Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation.
Mark’s practice was primarily focused on Family Law, Divorce, and Post Decree matters such as Child Custody, Child Support, Parenting Time Issues, Contribution toward College Costs, Pre-Marital Agreements, service as a Guardian Ad Litem and Parenting Time Coordinator, and all Juvenile Court (Juvenile, C.H.I.N.S., and Paternity) matters and actions.
After being admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana, he regularly served as a Temporary Judge, Judge Pro-Tem and Special Judge in all Porter County, Indiana Courts with emphasis in the Divorce Courts and Juvenile Court.
Mark served as a Guardian Ad Litem in over 100 cases in Porter, Lake, Jasper and La Porte Counties; for both children and adults, as well as serving as a Multi Level Parenting Time Coordinator in multiple high conflict cases in Porter, La Porte and Lake Counties.
Additionally, Mark was an Indiana Registered Family Law Mediator and served as such in over 150 cases after being trained and registered through ICLEF and the Supreme Court of the State of Indiana, and he also served as a Family Law Arbitrator in multiple contested custody and high asset divorce cases in Porter County, Indiana.
Mark retired from the active practice of law on September 30, 2024.
