Mark's Story

Life My Life- Well since departing Somerville in 1986 I went on to New Hampshire to live with a friend near my summer cottage on Lake Sunapee where I attended school until 1988. From there I then joined the United States Air Force and went on to California near San Diego in which I lived there for 4 years working in the Supply Career field and became a veteran of the Desert Storm War in 1992. Soon after Desert Storm ended the base I was on closed due to cut backs in military spending and reorganization of the military, so I moved east to Lubbock, Texas for 8 months. I then changed careers while in the military and moved on to attend school in Colorado to train to be a Computer Analyst, from there I got reassigned to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland and supported "Air Force One" for President Clinton for 4 years. I left the Air Force after 8 years of service due to the computer boom and my ability to make more money than if I stayed in the military, and also for reasons of my desire to become a civilian again in order to come and go as I pleased. Now owning my life again I managed my career pretty well having worked for companies such as Tufts Health Plan,Harvard Pilgrim Health Care,I worked for Ross Perots company Perot Systems for over 2.5 years, I've worked for Scudder Investments, and Deutsche Bank in the financial district in Boston for awhile. Presently I'm working in Boston as a Network Technician and taking classes to become a Linux Administrator. I lived in Hawaii on Oahu for 3 months and almost stayed out there for good but my dad got sick and so I came home to Somerville to take care of him and then my mom after he passed. My mom has also since passed.(It sucks not having parents to call or visit anymore!).I still think to call them. I then ran away to the mountains in New Hampshire again where I worked as a Digital Mapping Technician which I created software for GPS technology for two years and boy did that get old and boring. I then worked on Mt.Sunapee for the winter as a lift operator where I met a girl who I lived with for awhile up there in a cozy log home. We couldn't make ends meet up there due to the lack of computer jobs so we then decided to move to Duxbury on the beach after my girlfrriend sold two houses in a week (she was a realtor at the time). We've since parted ways recently. So,I'm single again and I've never made the plunge into marriage just due to my wild nature and pickiness. I've never been without a woman in my life for more than a few months for as long as I can think back and I just haven't found the one that I truely considered my soul mate. Not to say that there were a few that had good souls...Expand for more
but they just ended up not being what I was looking for. I guess you can say I'm a very kind loving soul yet complex and complicated who will not settle for anything short of true friendship and love. I love to Hike the White Mountains,Camp, and explore anywhere and everything the world has to offer. I snowboard and ski in the winter and golf in the warm monthes. My long term plan is to find a little bit more of myself, as I am living on my own for the first time for as long as I can remember, which gives me the freedom to do so, and I hope to bump into my soulmate along the way. As James Taylor said: It's just a lovely ride"! I would like to start a family, buy a house, and live happily ever after with a big 401k, stocks, and multiple real estate investments so as to retire with no worries. My idea of a life well served is finding peace, and harmony and expressing my concerns to the world through words and through song(I enjoy singing since it's been in my blood all my life,my first cousin just graduated Berkley for voice, and my Niece will be attending next year for voice also, I may have missed my calling!) in order to try and make a change in the universal thought of material and greed to a more rewarding purpose of finding ones own soul and purpose on this earth so as to serve all and find true meaning of what it really means to be alive. I guess you could say I'm very philosophical by nature huh? Anyway, since I last wrote this I have moved to New Hampshire again. I'm living in Derry near my friend Jimmy Wright(class of 86). I'm still working in Boston and have plans to possibly move down to the cape for the summer. I am back with my ex to give it another shot and see where that leads. We'll see! Peace! Adding to my profile again. The computer industry has been pretty much outsourced to india so I'm exploring new careers now(mid life crisis I guess). I recently attended a massage school for two weeks and was the only guy in my class(sounds like heaven huh?) Well I changed my mind just due to the statistics of men vs women in the field 83% women 17% women. I think the idea of a long shot career changed my mind. I did like the idea of healing people and making them more comfortable in their skin though but so it goes.....I know am researching a buisness of my own that I want to start...Doggie Daycare! Sounds fun huh? I can be my own boss and have playful animals as my clients. They don't compete for your job, and they love to run/hike, play and spend time out doors like me. I think we'll get along just fine don't you? I'll be living on the beach on the cape if you want me to get your dog in shape and have a hell of a day! (*smile*)
