Mark E.'s Story
Life
Living in Lee's Summit, MO. Married. Two grown children; boy and a girl. I serve a small church in eastern Jackson County as their pastor since July of 1991. Graduated from William Jewell College in '72 with a Psychology major with concentrations in Music and Religion. Also two postgraduate degrees: MRE & MDiv from Seminary. My first grandchild (a beautiful little girl) is now almost 6 (December 2007). I would really like you to drop me an e-mail.
School
Wow. From 1965 when I first came to Southwest from Bingham until now is nearly forty-two years. The time flies so quickly. I wish I had known then what I know now about the value of healthy relationships. I'm sure I would have been friends with many more of you. So I figure it's still not too late. Drop me an e-mail. College
1968 to 1972 were my years at William Jewell College. I could not have spent those four years anywhere else with greater advantage. I absolutely LOVED my college experience! And I still cherish the friendships I made then. It was as if I finally came alive once I got away from home and was on my own. recently in late October 2002 when Doc Forbis came back to conduct us 'vintage' choir members. Alpha Phi Omega and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia generate many great memories. I was a music major for my first two years at Wm Jewell but changed majors my Junior year after flunking 4th semeter music theory (somebody stole my Walter Piston book!). So I switched to Psychology and managed to graduate on time.
Workplace
Let's see . . . work biography. Hmmm. Well, I've been the pastor of Colbern Road Baptist Church in eastern Jackson County, Missouri since July of 1991. Before that I served as pastor at two other churches: Besonia Baptist Church in Kansas City and Cedar Grove Baptist Church near Warsaw, Missouri. And before I started into pastoral ministry, I was into Christian Education both in Washington State where I was the Director of Christian Education at the First Baptist Church of Port Angeles, Washington. Then I was the Children's Ministry Director at my home church in Kansas City before I answered God's call into the pastoral ministry. It is so exciting for me to witness spiritual growth in individuals (and churches). I don't think I'll ever retire. Probably just die in the saddle. Happily.
