r Two years, but struggled with the adjustments academically.
However I have many fond memories of ISU and have kept in close touch with my roommates and friends. I covered ISU as a sports reporter and still cheer for the Redbirds. My fondest memories were with the Student radio station- WILN, where I was a disc jockey and sportscaster. The memories of the old Castle and many late nights, are very special.
I also attended Columbia College in Chicago, part-time, and was Sports Director of the student radio station-WCRX. I met my two of my closest friends there, Dominic Scianna and Dan Pompei and gained a wealth of knowledge about communications. I am especially grateful to the Radio Department Chairman, Al Parker for his encouragement and patience. May god bless his soul.
I have also been a student part-time with DePaul University School for New Learning, an Adult Undergrad program designed for working adults.
I have my own communications company (Mark Farina Communications) Specializing in Voice-Over Talent, Written features for publications and websites, Photography, Special Event Emcee, Sports Public Address, and Public Relations Consulting.
I was employed by the City of Chicago for a total of 25 years. I Left at the end of December/08 after 18 consecutive years, the last 16 years with the Department of Environment in Public Relations and Community Outreach.
When I returned to work with the City in 1990,I was with Streets & Sanitation in Public Relations for two years. Previously from 1981-1985 I worked in the Graphics & Reproduction Center at City Hall as a photographer and BxW Photo Lab Technician.
I also worked part-time at the Chicago Sun-Times as a Prep Sports reporter, was a staff reporter/columnist for Red, White & Green Sports Magazine and Free-Lanced in radio and television in Chicago on and off for about ten years.
