Mark's Story

Life Alive and kicking on the Left Coast (Santa Maria, CA). Married (to Cheri) since 1993 with two kids (Rachel born in '96) and Ryan (born in '98). Left soon after graduating from PVHS in 1980 and really haven't been back to PA in quite a few years. School I have a lot of GREAT memories of my time at Perkiomen Valley. Yet some of my best memories I have are the (many) times I skipped school and partied with my friends! Those were the days. A lot of great times with Trish P., Tom G., John and Angela W., Glenn S., Lenny W., Honey G., Jennifer D., Chris and Rob M., and a cast of many others. I am sure a lot people remember the great parties we had at my mom's house in good 'ole Birchwood. I am sure my mom does as we often would do a number on that house. I think the cops were probably releaved as well when I finally departed Graterford! College After getting out of the military in Tucson, Az, I started my college career at Pima Community College (1984-1985). I went to the University of Arizona (1985-1989) and graduated in 1989 with a B.S. in Systems Engineering. I went to graduate school at the University of Alabama, Huntsville (1989-1990) and graduated in 1990 with a M.S. in Engineering. Not too bad considering I probably spent as much time skippping school as I did going to school during my time at PVHS! I really enjoyed my time at the U of A. The sports teams were pretty good and I had the opportuntiy to go to many football and basketball games. Oh and there was a...Expand for more
lot of partying as well. Luckily for me, I had mellowed a bit since my high school days and was able to make it through with flying colors! Workplace Working at Vandenberg AFB as a civilian engineer. I have been out here since 1990 assigned to various positions. I am enjoying working in the rocket launch business. It is nice to see my hard work go up into space! Military Left Graterford PA on July 3, 1980 for boot camp (Air Force). It didn't take too long before I wondered if made the right choice! I wasn't exactly the most disciplined person coming out of high school and before long I was getting "set back" three weeks for drinking beer at the local club at Lackland AFB. That was a big "no no" during basic training. Eventually I made it out of boot camp and was sent to Lowery AFB in Denver, CO for training in the supply field. My first assignment was to Iraklion AS in Crete, Greece. I spent 1 1/2 years there and had the time of my life. Crete was a favorite tourist location for many Europeans. As a result there were many great night clubs and such. The beaches were absolutely fantastic. And as an 18 year old guy, I certainly didn't mind the topless beaches filled with European women! After my time in Greece, I was assigned to Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson AZ. I was familiar with the area (relatives lived there, etc.) so it was actually my first choice coming back to the states. I spent my last two years in the Air Force there before getting out to go to college.
